The individual box container (empty) strength should meet the minimum strength define by the
following formula.

Weight is equal to the total weight of the packaged unit with accessories.
The letter “h” is the outside height of the unit container.

The minimum required compressive strength of an individual container is:

L = minimum required compressive strength, lbf.
W = weight of one individual container or shipping unit
H = maximum stack height: Use 180” (457 cm) if
unknown
h = height of one individual container or shipping unit
F = safety factor:
Ø F=5 (empty box test) if only corrugated is supporting the entire compressive load.
Ø F=4 (package test with additional internal support) when the cushion/product or inserts
add additional compressive strength.
Ø F=2 No corrugated compressive support, the bare product supports 100% of the
compressive load (For example: certain bulk pack designs)
