Presentation of ChengDu      By li Xuelan  Class 10 Today I want to talk about my hometown.Maybe not everyone of you can imagine what is it like in the deepest of my heart for me as an outlander girl who have studied in ChangChun for almost 5 years.During these five years，I just went back home four times during my winter or summer vocation,once a year on average.Last year I spent my whole winter holidays,including the spring-festival,in ZheJiang province.Five years' of time is not very long,until I began to recognize that I has become so accustomed to the life here,even my accent has changed.The longer I lives here,the stronger the feeling is that I feel myself being apart from my hometown.When I go back to ChengDu,It's so easy for me to get lost,and I have to ask ways wherever to go as if I was a total stranger.It is such a pity that I want to catch every chance searching more about my city,and I'd like to present it to all my friends. I miss my home and that's why I choose this topic. Today,I will introduce this city from several aspects. ●Geographic[dʒiə'græfik] Location. As we all know that Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan Province.It lies in the eastern hinterland of the Chengdu Plain, in central Sichuan.Covering a total land area of 12,400 square kilometers.Chengdu has a jurisdiction[,dʒuəris'dikʃən]管辖权of over 9 districts, 4 cities and 6 counties.成都市辖9个市辖区、6个县，代管4个县级市。即：锦江区、青羊区、金牛区、武侯区、成华区、龙泉驿区、青白江区、新都区、温江区、都江堰市、彭州市、邛崃市、崇州市、金堂县、双流县、郫县、大邑县、蒲江县、新津县。成都市总面积12132平方千米。By the end of 2004,the population of Chengdu had reached 10.6 million.总人口1060万人（2004年）The city enjoys a subtropical humid monsoon[mɔn'su:n] climate bearing obvious features of continental climate,its average annual temperature is 15.5℃.属亚热带湿润季风气候，年平均温度15.5℃。(Since The air is humid,so even though the tempreture is not too high in summer, you can feel a little bit swelter; it's average tempreture in winter is above 5℃,you may feel very cold).Due to the impact of geography position and physiognomy [,fizi'ɔɡnəmi]地貌,ChengDu is a city of very unique characteristics——the sky always full of thick clouds and mists lay over the city and the hours of sunlight per day is relatively short.Folk proverbs of "ShuQuanFeiRi" is the very description of climate character. ●Chengdu has a long history.2,500 years ago,Kaiming IX,king of ancient Shu in the Zhou Dynasty (11th century，about 611BC),started to set up the capital in Chengdu. The name of ChengDu came from the story of The west-zhou dynasty set up it capital,it is said "A town was built in a area in the first year and it will become the capital in three years,so the ancestors named the city as Chengdu, which implied their hope for this city to become a capital.西周建都的历史经过，取周王迁岐“一年而所居成聚，二年成邑，三年成都”因此得名成都。 Later on,Chengdu gradually became one of the most important centers of politics, economy and culture in China. As early as in the Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD)),Chengdu began to enjoy the fame of being one of the Top Five Capitals. We can see the magnificent life in Ancient Shu kingdom,a civilization slepet for over 3,000 years revealed by the cultural relics discovered. ●The Pre-historic Ancient-City group,SanXingdui Ruins,the Ship-coffins Tombs in the Warring States periods,Along with the newly exploration of JinSha ancient cultural relic is one of China's most important sites of Ancient China,tracing back to pre-Qin Dynasty,construct the four evolution and development phases of the ancient Shu civilization. Thousands pieces of precious cultural relics cleared out from these sites,including gold,jade,bronze and stone,ivory devices and large numbers of ivory,pottery, etc.raise up a period of lost history, helped reproduce the original magnificent life in Ancient Shu kingdom.成都平原的史前古城址群(新津宝墩遗址、温江鱼凫村遗址、郫县古城遗址、都江堰芒城、崇州双河以及紫竹等 6 处古城)、三星堆遗址、战国船棺墓葬,以及新发现的先秦时期金沙文化遗址共同构建了古蜀文明发展演进的四个不同阶段。金沙遗址出土千余件精美文物，金沙遗址已清理出了1000余件珍贵文物，包括金器、玉器、铜器、石器、象牙器和数量众多的象牙、陶器等，再现了古代蜀国的辉煌，复活了一段失落的历史，揭示了一个沉睡了3000多年的古代文明。 Let's see a series of pictures. ●The traditional industries of gold,silver,silk have helped to make this city one of the most important centers of commerce in the country.The precious ShuJin is a kind of fancy work,which can show a picture vividly. ●On the other hand Chengdu has become one of the most important printing centers in the country,Chengdu has a long history as a destination for learned poets and artists to gather and seek inspiration.The great poet Li Bai,Du Fu,Li Shangyin made their home here and left behind classical poetries glorified as a beautiful landscape and precious treasure in ChengDu cultural history. ●As time goes by, traditional wooden Chinese architecture that once dominated this city can still be found in the outskirts although it is fast disappearing. It is now an incredibly modern and vibrant['vaibrənt]充满生机的place.Chengdu has blossomed in terms of affluence and investment.We can see skyscrapers dominate the skyline and Japanese cars and western goods are hugely popular and widely available. ●This modernization has no doubt been helped by the important role that Chengdu plays in terms of education and culture in China.国民之魂，文以化之；国家之神，文以铸之。There are 14 colleges and impressive university situated in the city,it's a city of universities.成都还是一个名副其实的大学城，这里有很多高等学府，培养了一代又一代杰出的人物。四川大学，电子科技大学， 西南交通大学，西南财经大学，成都理工大学，成都信息工程大学，四川师范大学，西南民族大学，西华大学，成都中医药大学，西南石油大学，成都大学，四川音乐学院，四川体育学院等 ●Nestled amongst these affluence,Chengdu is a most attractive cultural city. ●When talking about ChengDu,most of you would like to talk about Sichuan food.Yes，Sichuan food is widely accepted all over the country,and it is famous for spicy.Most of the food is quite spicy,it is very delicious. 川菜之魂：郫县豆瓣 “郫县豆瓣”源于明末清初年间，历史悠久，源远流传！具有瓣子酥脆、酱脂香浓郁的特点，是制作川菜的必备调味品，有“川菜之魂”的美誉。 四川省郫县豆瓣股份有限公司生产的“鹃城牌”郫县豆瓣以其酱脂辣香浓郁，瓣粒香脆化渣，回味深长，粘适度的优良品质，远销世界各地，深得人民喜爱。在历次国家、部省评选中，“鹃城牌”郫县豆瓣都以其上乘质量，独特的地方风味而倾倒评委并多次获奖。中国八大菜系的美食专家对其美誉有佳，川菜名家尤其钟情。 “川菜之神”：回锅肉 小吃 炒菜 火锅 The local king of kings is the Hotpot, basically a big pot of oil, water and spices simmering in a pot in the middle of your table. Patrons老顾客choose from a big variety of skewered['skjuə]串肉扦food including veggies素菜, sea-weed海带类,fish,beef,chicken and proceed to boil them in the oil. After the meal, your bill will be calculated by counting the skewer-sticks. SiChuan People are in favor of eating hot food, mainly related to the humid climate here. And chillies can both warm the body and induce the cooling sweat. When you're in SiChuan,SiChuan Food is one of the most important thing you can't miss and I am sure that you will be addicted to it. ●In the last part i want to show you some pictures of traveling in ChengDu. 武侯祠 锦里 杜甫草堂 琴台路 宽窄巷子 天府广场 青城山 （都江堰在视频中有） The pleasant climate,profound history,beautiful scenery and delicious food,chengdu is a great place to visit. It is a very pleasant city to do just this: feast on some great food and soak up some of the mellow atmosphere in one of the thousands of tea houses dotted about the city. Many travelers are simply killing time here or passing through route to Tibet. I hope all of you come to my hometown,to feel our enthusiasm for food, understanding of leisure,and love of life.
