Lies Is it necessary to tell lies sometimes? My answer is “no”. Although I have lied before and in the future I will inevitably tell lies, I still deem that it is unnecessary to tell lies. Someone has said that all the crimes are derived from stealing. Once a person kills a mother, he has stolen her right to be a mother and her children’s right to be children. It is also true that if one lies to another, he has stolen the other’s right to know the truth. Thus, if a person lies, he has stolen something from the other person. People may ask themselves why they tell lies. The answer are varied and diversified from person to person. Lies can be divided into two types out of different intentions. One is for the sake of one’s personal interests, the other one is out of kindness. However, no matter what the purposes are, the essence of lies is cheat. And according to different purposes, lies based on personal interests can be divided into three types. Firstly, some lie to themselves or other people by boasting their achievements and imagining their unpractical dreams. We call it a Q’s spirits. They just pay attention to command other people’s admiration and feel pleased with themselves. They live in the lies made by themselves and ignore their true ability and capability. Secondly, some lies to absolve themselves from guilt and blame. They lay all the fault and responsibilities on other people to prove that others are to be blamed and they are innocent. They excuse themselves by lies to get rid of responsibilities and punishment. The third type of lies like that is to manipulate others by making up a favorable situation. Therefore, they will have a greater opportunity to achieve their goals. These three kinds of lies are for all individual benefits. However, these lies may weigh upon their conscience. If their souls don’t suffer, they will pay for their lies in another way, just like the story of shepherd boy. If a person lies too much, nobody will believe him and no one wants to make friends with him. Never lying is a more important quality for a businessman. For them, reputation is above all else. Given that, it is necessary to tell lies. When it comes to white lie, most of the people would say it is necessary. As far as I am concerned, I hope to be treated honestly and I want truth from others, no matter how cruel and unbelievable the reality is. There are three reasons for not telling white lies. Firstly, a white lie is still a lie, and it can never change the reality; secondly, maybe, the reality is brutal and difficult to accept, there will be a time one has to confront himself with the reality, and living in lies can never be the solution; thirdly, one cannot make decision for another person, because the reality is concerned about the other, not the liar. Thus it is necessary to tell white lies, so don’t deceive one with lies even if out of sympathy or kindness. Just speak out the truth and accompany with him to get over the suffering and agony. Thus, according to what I have said, it is unnecessary to tell lies, both out of kindness or for the sake of personal interests.
