Newspapers also provide commentary on the news, advocate various public policies, furnish special information and advice to readers, and sometimes include features such as comic strips, cartoons, and serialized books. Newspaper reading, which has become daily must for many people who want to get information. Obviously newspaper reading can also serve as a way to widen their scope of knowledge. Journalistic English can even be found in some textbooks or in the reading comprehension section of various tests. It is all the important to learn some skills for reading English newspapers. The aim of the thesis is to introduce some reading techniques for people who find difficulties in reading English newspaper. There are four parts in this thesis: introduction, characteristics of English newspapers, techniques in reading English newspapers and conclusion. As we know, the newspaper for many people is more than textbooks. Compared with other English materials, newspapers have four main advantages: novelty content, up-to-date language, rich information and practical expression. The aim of reading English newspaper is to improve the level in English. Recently people who want to read newspaper has lot of choices Such as China Daily, 21ST Century, Beijing Today and so on. Thus the reader should know own level in reading newspaper, meaning that reader should read articles from easy to hard.
