Apparatus and Materials Required仪器及所需原料 4.1 Fog Test Units—A controlled heating unit with multiple chambers with a typical temperature range from 60 to 120 °C. Cooling of the glass plate for each test chamber in the unit is required with a typical temperature range from 20 to 40 °C. Equipment from the sources listed as follows has produced acceptable data under laboratory conditions. Correlation between the two brands of equipment has been good based on a limited number of trials. Some equipment modifications may be necessary. A temperature override cut-out to prevent overheating in the event of thermostat failure should be an integral part of the unit. Temperatures of the heating unit and the cooling system may be monitored and recorded for the duration of each test. This is most easily achieved using a calibrated chart recorder. Specific requirements shall be at the option of the contractual automotive company. The cooling plates, which are laid upon the glass plates, should apply a weight of approximately 1 kg. This is to assure a good seal for the test chamber. Numbering of the fog test chambers is given in Appendix A and Appendix B. Photometric Procedure光度测定程序 7.1 Using a hydraulic cutting press and circular die, or another suitable cutting method, cut three test specimens from each sample of material or component (or as specified by the contractual automotive company) that are the appropriate diameter to fit inside the beakers of the Temperature Controlled Unit. The thickness shall not be greater than 50 mm.
