Ontheotherhandyouwantabalancedlifewithtimeforthethingsyoureallywanttodowithafullandinterestingsociallife.Ofcourseyouwanttohaveclarityaboutyourcareer,jobdutiesandyouwanttocontinuetobehealthy,fitandstressfree. Sowhat’sthebestwayforward?!HowcanyoutooachieveazenlikeHappinessatwork? Onekeytoresolvingtheseseeminglyconflictingchallengesistogetclearaboutjusthowmuchyoulovetheworkyoudo.Iswhatyoudosomethingyoujumpoutofbedeverymorning,orwouldyouratherbedoingsomethingelse? Howmotivatedareyouwithyourwork?Andhowdoyoucopewiththedaytodayroutineofficework? Sincefornowyouhavechosentobeinthejobyouarein,itisuptoyouforthetimebeingtomakethemostofwhatyoudo.Ofcourseinthelongterm,youcaneitherchangeyourjoborevenembarkonanewcareer.Butfornow,youcangettolovemoreofwhatyoudorightnow. Assumingthatintheshorttermyouarenotabletochangejobs,thereareanumberofthingsyoucandotobeginenjoyingmoreofwhatyoucurrentlydo.Askyourself-isitthejoborisityou?Andwhatcanyoudotomakeyourcurrentworkmoreenjoyable? Beruthlessandtakecareofataskbeforeitgetsonapossibleprocrastinationlist.Forexample,sortyourmorningpostimmediatelyinonego–openit,fileit,actonitorbinitthereandthen. 6.Clarifyanytimeyouarenotsureorwhereyouarefacedwithconflictingdemands.Themoreclearandupfrontyouarewithyourmanagerandtheotherpeopleyouworkwith,thebetteritwillbeforyouinthelongterm. 7.Delegatewhereverappropriate.Decideifthereisanythingthatcanbedelegated,orthatmorefairlybelongstosomeoneelse’sworkload.Alwaysrememberthe“3D”rule–doit,dumpitordelegateit-neverhandleapieceofpapertwice. 8.Haveregularbreaks.Getawayfromyournormalworkplaceevenifonlyforfiveminutes.Trytakingabreakfromthelaptop,emailsanddoleavethemobilebehind.Makesurethatyoudohavethatlunchbreak–itisnotjustforfoodbutalsoforfreshairandamentalbreak. Eatahealthylunchandifyoumustsnack,makesureitishealthytoo–anappleratherthanabagofchips.Lookforwaysofenergizingyourselfotherthanfromadrenalineandcaffeine. 9.Learntorelaxnomatterhowchallengingtheworkgetsorhowdemandingyourbossesbecome.Attheendofthedayitisonlyajob,andyouaremuchmorethanthat.Inyearstocome,youwilllookbackandwonderwhatthefusswas. 10.Contributetowardscreatingapleasantworkenvironment.Donotgossipintheofficeasitjustcreatesnegativityallaround.Donotlistentoanygossipeither.Minimizeyourtimewithpeoplethatyoudonotresonatewithorlike. Learntohavemorefunatwork.Laughmoreandchillout.Performwithamorefunorientatedapproach. 11.ReviewyourdaybeforeyouleaveforHome.Lookatwhatworkedwell,andwhatcouldbeimprovedthenextday.Ifyoufeelsatisfiedwiththeday’swork,thenwhynotrewardyourselflaterthatday.Youdeserveit. 12.Switchoffonceyouleavework.Youarealreadyatworkathirdofyourtime,sodonotcontinuetokeepitbuzzinginyourheadduringyoursupposedfreetime.MentallysaygoodbyetoyourworkspacethemomentyouleaveforHome.
