Hardware Identification
IAW MIL-STD-130Hardware Identification
IAW MIL-STD-130Original design activity (ODA): the company that pulled the drawing number and put it on their format
MFR: a company other than the design activity manufacturing the hardware
Typically machine shops are an extension, not the MFR.
SOCD is one type of manufacturer.
Current design activity (CDA): when the ODA no longer has responsibility for the design of an item
Example of part marking (never change the ODA):

Local notes. Local notes are notes which are located at the specific area or point of application. Requirements specified by local notes apply only to the areas or points indicated.
Flagnotes. Flagnotes are notes which are located with the general notes but apply only at specific areas or points on the drawing. A flag note shall be identified with a flag note symbol delta “”. The flag note delta including the general note number shall be shown at each point of application on the field of the drawing. The general note shall state “surface(s) indicated”, “area(s) indicated”, or “adjacent surfaces optional” as appropriate to tie the delta on the field of the drawing to the general note.
