Brief Introduction to Professor Qin Xiaoning
覃晓宁,教授,她的音乐被誉为“洗涤心灵的天籁”,空灵、质朴的古筝演奏有着极强的感染力和穿透力。
2007-2008年在法国里尔国家音乐学院任教,曾受邀到美国、法国、德国、意大利、荷兰等十几个国家演出、交流,受奥地利政府邀请参加维也纳音乐艺术节,多次受美国瑶族联盟会的邀请参加美国瑶族文化研讨及学术交流,被美国瑶族联盟会授予“中美瑶族文化交流使者”。获第九届国际青少年艺术盛典金奖,在古筝的国际推广及瑶族音乐研究上颇有建树。Professor Qin Xiaoning,Her music is hailed as a composer with ethereal, simple and unadorned sounds of nature. She taught at the ―Conservatoire National de Région de Lill e‖, France in 2007 and 2008. She was invited to perform in over more than 10 countries including the United States, France, Germany, Italy and Netherlands. She was also invited by the Government of Austria to participate in the Vienna Music & Arts Festival. The America Yao Nationality Alliance had also invited her to attend seminars and academic symposiums representing the Yao Nationality Culture on several occasions, and was conferred the title of ―Special Envoy for Strengthening of Sino-US Yao Nationality Cultural Exchange‖by the Alliance. Professor Qin was honored with a Gold Award at the 9th International Arts Awards for Adolescents and achieved global recognition in the promotion of both Chinese Zither music and studies in Yao Nationality music.
覃晓宁,瑶族,毕业于广西艺术学院,中国音乐学院访问学者,现任广西科技师范学院(原柳州师范高等专科学校)教授。柳州市政协委员、中国民主建国会会员、中国音乐家协会会员、中国民族管弦乐协会古筝专业委员会会员、广西古筝学会理事。师从中国著名古筝演奏家林坚、周望等教授,并被我国古筝泰斗赵登山先生收为关门弟子。所创作的铜鼓等民族音乐作品《百越古韵》、《山蛙嬉雨》多次获奖并广获好评;是我国古筝界一颗闪亮的后起之星。
Ms (Professor) Qin Xiaoning, a Yao Minority Chinese, graduated from the Guangxi Arts Institute of China and acted as a visiting scholar at the Chinese Music Conservatory. She presently holds the office of a professor at the Guangxi Science and Technology Normal University(formerly known as Liuz hou Teachers‘ College), and holds membership statuses as a member of the CPPC in Liuzhou, as a member of China Democratic National Construction Association , the Chinese Musicians Association, the Chinese Zither Committee under China Nationalities Orchestra Society and the Guangxi Chinese Zither Society. She studied under Professor Lin Jian and Zhou Wang, renowned concert performers in China, and Zhao Deng Shan, a top concert performer in China. Folk music, as part of her special repertoire included ?Archaic Rhyme in Baiyue Nationality’and ?Mountain Flogs Playing with the Rain’ which won awards several times and further increased her popularity and reputation as a promising composer in the musical field of Chinese zither.

1、霸王卸甲The Conqueror Unarms 浙江筝曲Zhejiang Tune 王巽之传谱Arranged by Wang Zhuanzhi
这是一首体现西楚霸王项羽英勇盖世的悲壮性乐曲。一九八五年郭雪君对这首乐曲重新进行了整理,并借鉴了琵琶指法,尤其是"楚歌"和"别姬"二段,长篇幅的各种力度的摇指,并通过左手不时的改变力度,速度,更衬托出悲剧性色彩。

This composition by Guo Xuejun in 1985 is a melancholic but stirring tune depicting a heroic epic of Xiang Yu. Imitating a pipa method in Songs of Chu and Farewell to My Concubine especially, the story is manifested with tones of heightened tragedy by techniques where the finger plucking is inter-changed with speed and strength.

―Boats‖ is a famous zither music. Generally thought that song was Lou shuhua mid-thirties of this century, according to a performance of ―Returning home words‖ adapted from the mateterial. Title taken from Tang Wang Bo ―vine Wang Ge Xu ‖in the famous line –―Boats, ring the coast of Li peng Qiong; Goose cold shock, the sound of breaking Hengyang Pu.‖
―Boats‖ by singing the melody, the image depicts the sun sets, gorgeous sunset, Fishermen everywhere,full of the joy of harvest joy fisherman scene, showing the beautiful country of mountains ang rivers of praise and love. 3、战台风Fighting Typhoon
王昌元作于1965年,当时她还是上海音乐学院的学生,在上海港码头体验生活时,有感于工人与台风搏斗而作的一首筝独奏曲。
《战台风》曲调气势磅礴,音乐形象鲜明,快速段落紧张激烈,慢速段落优美抒情。全曲成功地塑造了码头工人大无畏的精神和压倒一切困难的英雄气概,由5个段落组成。

4. Dance of the Yao Tribe Composed by Liu Tieshan and Mao Yuan
This music piece is based on Songs and Dance Accompanied on Long Drums, a folk song. Dance of the Yao Tribe shows in a vivid way, the days of jubilation when the Yao people are singing and dancing, amidst beautiful orchestral music. The Yao people who are skilled in singing and dancing is captured deeply within this composition.
5、秦桑曲Qin-san’tune
根据陕西地方戏曲音乐中的苦(哭)音音调创作,表现了悲伤哀诉的悲愤及缠绵凄凉的思念之情。
唐代诗人李白写有五言诗《思春》:“燕草如碧丝,秦桑低绿枝。当君怀归日,是妾断肠时!春风不相识,何事入帷帐?”这首诗以第一人称的口吻描写了一位女子深深眷恋着丈夫的心绪。
《秦桑曲》是曲作者借用诗中“秦桑”一词,运用流行在陕西关中一带的戏曲音乐“碗碗腔”素材,加工提炼后创作而成的。乐曲通过委婉、缠绵、激情的旋律变化,描述了深情的女子思念家乡、思念亲人,盼望早日与家人团聚的迫切心情。

According to local opera music in Shaanxi suffering (crying) voice tone creation, showing sorrow ang grief Yu whining lingering melancholy thoughts of love.
Poem of Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai wrote a poem“Spring thinking”:“yan grass, such as bess, Qin sang low foliage. When the king return date pregnant is heartbroken when the concubine! Spring did not know, anything into the tent Law? ”The poem first-person tone of deep love of a woman describes her husband‘s state of mind.
“Qin sang song”is a song writer of the poem“Qin Sang,”the term used in the Guanzhong area pop opera music“bowl bowl cavity”material, made of processed refined creation. Music by euphemism, lingering,passionate melody changes, described the missing woman loving home, missing loved ones, family reunion looking forward to an early eagerness.
6、出水蓮Lotus out of the water
《出水莲》是传统的广东客家筝曲,中州古调,采用传统的十六弦钢丝筝演奏,音调古朴,风格淡雅,表现了莲花“出淤泥而不染,濯清涟而不妖”的高尚情操。全曲以各种丰富的表现手法将出水蓮的神态、气质刻画得栩栩如生。
全曲旋律清丽、典雅;速度中庸、悠闲;演奏者右手以蓮托演奏的前倚音润饰曲调,富有动力,同时还以不同的触弦点弹奏造成丰富音色的对比:靠近岳山处,音色则高雅明亮;中段常在岳山和雁足的中间弹奏,音色则柔美动听。左手则发挥按弦的多种功能,重按3和6音时则升高为4和(b7)音。构成一种特殊“软套”(重三六);以上滑音产生后倚音,韵味悠长,又以重颤音偶尔点缀一下,色彩清淡。

《铁马吟》是赵登山创作于1985年的一首筝曲,全曲表现一个人朗诵佛经的情形,以歌颂佛家为主旨,用筝音表现了不同山头的不同庙宇钟声的音乐形象。《铁马吟》有着天时、地利、人和的创作背景。天时:1985年中央文化部派赵老师等人出访印度,参加国际大音乐节,需要一首歌颂佛家的参赛曲目;地利:赵老师所在团的大力支持;人和:吉林省歌剧院词作家王英惠先生对赵老师在创作和构思上的协助。
铁马,是指挂在庙庭屋檐下的铁片,风吹则相击出声。乐曲以缓慢幽深的音调,模拟古琴音色及奏法,描绘出香烟屡屡,佛声祥和的氛围。
7. Phrases for the Tieh-Ma Composed by Zhao Deng Shan
Phrases for the Tieh-Ma, composed by Zhao Deng Shan in 1985, depicts a Buddhist reciting the Buddhist Scriptures. With a theme eulogizing Buddhism, with sounds of bells tolling from temples in mountains are vividly manifested in terms of Chinese zither music. Phrases for the Tieh-Ma was composed under very fortunate conditions, in a geographical location with support from the people. Under such favorable creative background, Mr.Zhao, was appointed as one of the delegates by the Ministry of Culture, to visit India to participate in the International Music Festival in 1985 in which a song track eulogizing Buddha was required for the competition; and under such fortunate circumstance and the backdrop, delegates of the team received strong support and employed all efforts to compose a song track; with Mr.Wang Yinghui, a song writer of Jilin Opera House who assisted Mr. Zhao in its conception and composition.
Tieh-Ma refers to metal plates hanging on the eaves of temples. These plates strike against each other under the blowing wind, resulting in the harmony of a beautiful melody. With a slow and calming tone, and as an imitation of a seven-stringed plucked instrument, peace amidst spiraling incense smoke and the resonances of the holy Buddha permeates.
8、雪山春晓Snow Capped Mountain in the Spring Morning 格桑达吉、范上娥曲Composed by Fan Shang-e ,Ge Sang Da Ji
在世界屋脊青藏高原上,分布着许多高耸的山峰。由于海拔很高,这些山上终年积雪,白茫茫一片,所以被形象地称作雪山。每到春天,气温回升,山上的冰雪在压力和温度的作用下融化,汇成小溪缓缓流淌,最终成为河流的源头。著名的黄河、长江,源头都是在高原

8. Snow Capped Mountain in the Spring Morning Composed by Fan Shang-e and Ge Sang Da Ji Cloud-kissing mountains in Qinghai-Tibet plateau, the roof of the world, are snow-capped all year round. They are therefore called the snowy mountains. The arrival of spring when temperature rises, ice and snow melts at the mountain top, through pressure and temperature, converging to form rivers. The World-famous Yellow River and Yangtze River, stem from these snow mountains at the plateau. Snow Capped Mountain in the Spring Morning reproduces the natural beauty of ice and snow melting and converging as it murmurs and meanders into streams and rivers which flows downstream and forms its familiar melody.
9、阳关三叠唐代王维曲,项斯华编曲Composed by Wang Wei,Arranged by Xiang Sihua
王维这首诗在唐代就曾以歌曲形式广为流传,由于短短四句诗句饱含着极其深沉的惜别情绪,也因为曲调情意绵绵、真切动人。唐代诗人曾用许多诗句来形容过它,李商隐的―红绽樱桃含白雪,断肠声里唱阳关‖等。而且有些诗人同王维生活的年代相距近一个世纪,可见这支曲子在唐代流行的盛况。
9. Parting in Yangguan by Wang Wei, a Famous Poet in the Tang Dynasty and Arranged by Xiang Sihua.
Parting in Yangguan by Wang Wei was widely received as a song in the Tang dynasty, and was incorporated into Yi State Songs as the third paragraph. Chen Tao, a poet in the late Tang dynasty, commented in a poem that ―I recited Yi State Songs for three times as well as songs depicting an assistant officer setting out towards the garrison at the border area. I was not only impressed by the feeling of reluctance to part which infused these four lines, but also moved by the touching tones.‖ Lines by poets in the Tang dynasty depicting the moment are too numerous to mention. Li Shangyin once composed lines that ―with a mouth half-open, the beauty was about to say words, showing her white teeth. What a heartbroken beauty when she sang Parting in Yangguan.‖ Some poets who wrote similar verses were born in the following century. The popularity of the poem during that period was without equal.

As an interlude song in the film Center Stage directed by Stanley Kwan, Bury My Heart was selected for ―Best Movie Theme Song‖ and ―Best Movie Soundtrack of the Year‖ at the 12th Hong Kong Film Festival Award. It rendered flawless beautiful lines, akin to ―Within a bewildered state of mind as butterflies fly off, and who is to accompany me and to while away the long night? Tears flowing down my face, as I rub away the tears. Unwilling to part with my sweet affection, how can I bear lovelorn in these days of melancholy? It‘s difficult to go through days overwhelmed by rumors and gossips. Within a calm state amidst the misfortunes of life, I fear going through my life as a lonely soul. Like withered flowers, my heart fades away. As spring approaches and swallows return, I have nowhere to turn to for a place to rest.‖

古筝由原上海民族乐器一厂技术副厂长沈正国监制,有30多年制琴经验的沈正国和他在2008年创办的―上海大龢堂乐器文化工作室‖精心研究打造的这一款―琴茗廿一‖专业演奏筝。The zither was made under the supervision of Shen Zhengguo, vice technical director of original Shanghai No.1 National Musical Instruments. Mr.Shen has been involved in making zithers for more than 30 plus years. Working in cooperation with the Shanghai Instrumental Culture Studio founded by him in 2008, he embodies the quintessential understanding and knowledge required.

The zither music was inspired by lines from the Song of the Lute Player (a poem by Bai Juyi, who was poet in the Tang Dynasty), ―She tunes and plucked the strings several times, touching our hearts even before the tune is played‖. The music was composed by Kong Jian, Vice Army Commander and Vice Marshal in the army of the Guangzhou Military Region.
古筝琴尾《琴茗廿一》这一首诗,是刘伯承元帅的儿子---刘蒙将军听覃晓宁教授抚筝后而作。诗云:―二十一弦弹岁月,半入流水半入云。素手拂筝送清扬,楚楚古韵思文君‖。(此诗被刻在广西柳州市开元寺碑林处)
The postlude was composed by General Liu Meng, son of Marshal Liu Bocheng, after admiring the zither music played by Professor Qin Xiaoning. It appears no lack of similar analogies to beautiful lines like ―Through the music of zither, we review the past. By playing the zither, we think of Zhuo Wenjun amidst the beautiful melody‖. (The poem was engraved on stone tablets in the Kaiyuan Temple in Liuzhou, Guangxi.)
