Detailed information: one student puts forward his or her idea, and then the other student gives advice. For example, in conversation one: one student says he wants to work outside, so the other student advises him to clean up the city parks. The logical relation: the four conversations all practice the same sentence ), at the same time, the theme of four structure( I'd like to …,and you could do … conversations is to offer help. The language features of the text: the text is oral and simple for students to understand. Objective: the objective is to learn how to express idea and give advice. Basic Ideas and Strategies: first, listen to the dialogue and know the general ideas; and then master some key words; finally, they should listen to some detailed information. Difficulties: students may come across difficulties in vocabulary, pronunciation and speed. Maybe some students don't know the word (like the word "volunteer" in conversation 4), and there are some liaisons or their own pronunciation is wrong, so they can't understand it. Solutions: To help the students understand the listening materials better, T could teach the words that students may not understand. And when they listen to the tape, T could stop sentence by sentence. 2a/2b: The central meaning of the text is to talk about the plans/ways about city park clean-up Day. Detailed information: The logical relation: causal relationship. Clean-up Day is coming and it is two weeks from now. So they have to discuss and come up with the ways of telling people about the clean-up day. The language features of the text: the text is oral and simple and similar to spontaneous. Objective: the first one is to learn some phrasal verbs and the second one is to learn how to express your own ideas, the third is to learn how to give response/express your attitudes to others' opinions. Basic Ideas and Strategies: first, listen to the dialogue and know the general ideas; and then master some key words; finally, they should listen to some detailed information. For focusing on different emphasis according to the different directions, students have to pay attention to different specific information. In 2a, Ss should master the three ways of the clean-up day (the first is to put up signs, the second is to hand out advertisements and the last one is to call up ten people and ask them to come), but in 2b, students should focus on the verb phrases. Difficulties: In this exercise, students may have the similar difficulties understanding the martial as they do in 1b. Maybe some students don't know the word Maybe some don't know the meanings of word or phrases (like the word "advertisement and put off” etc.), and there are also some liaisons or their own pronunciation is wrong, so they may not be able to understand it. Solutions: for above difficulties students may come across, T could teach the words that students may not understand. And when they listen to the tape, T could stop sentence by sentence so that Ss can understand well.
