邀请吃饭篇 A\B A:32343311.This is Snow. B:Hi ,Snow , this is Anna. A:Long time no see. How is everything going? B:Too much home work and I cann't handle that. A:How pitifui. Any way, do you have time this sunday afternoon? B:I really don't know yet.  I have to check my notebook. So why did you ask me that? A:Actually , would you be interested in dinner with me? And I want to have a good talking. B:That's great. I really need a break. So what do you want me to bring? A:Don't worry about it, just come. Eh,which kind of restaurant do you prefer, Chinese or Western? B:I prefer to the Chinese restaurant. A:No proemble. I heard near Heyan Road, there is a new Chinese restaurant. I know you love Chinese dishes. B:That's so nice of you. A: I'll pick you up at 7:00 pm, if it's ok with you. Obedien is better than politeness.(恭敬不如从命) B:Great, see you. A:Bye. ……………………………………….. (in the restaurant) A: Here is the place where we eat. It looks good , right? B: Wow. Only from the menu, my mouth is watery. A: So what would you like to have? B: I am not sure yet. Everything looks delicious to me. A: So order what you like, it's my treat after all,haha... B: Ok, then. I want the shredded pork with garlic sauce(鱼香肉丝) and saute diced chicken with peanuts(宫保鸡丁) for the standar. How about you? A: I think I would have something different with you. How about the sweet and sour pork(糖醋排骨) and steam toufu soup(豆腐羹)together? B: That sounds well too! A: Let's call the waiter to give the order……. Excuse me, waiter. Can we order now? B: It seems they are really busy this time...everyone is running around A: Yes, newly open place always like this, I suppose. B: Anyway, we have the whole night for us, don't need to be hurry. A:Yes, let us enjoy this time. 饮食习惯 A\B A: Hi, Snow, nice to see you again after long time! B: Me too! Where are you going? A: I just come back from the lesson, the cultural lesson. B: Oh, really? What are you talking about? A: We are talking about the difference of the food customs between the Eastern and Western, especially on the China and America. B:I like Chinese food. And I also know China has 5000 years history. They probably spend half of time on food. Chinese people choice food very carefully. They only use fresh material to make food. For example they can cook a chicken in over ten ways. That’s why Chinese food is so popular in the world. A:I do agree. But western people would also prefer fast food like burgers and chips. They are unhealthy to human body. Western people do not have many skills for cooking, mostly they only boil, steam and bake the food. B:I just want to correct one point. Not all Americans prefer to the fast food. Most Americans eat breakfast and lunch quickly unless it is a social, business,or family occasion. The eveing meal ,however, is usually longer and a time for the family to gather together. Rushing through daytime meals is part of the fast pace in America. As with busy people everywhere there is a real difference between a meal that is eaten in a hurry and one that can be enjoyed with friends during one's leisure. A:I am sorry to here that. B:Never mind. in general ,American food is mild tasting; most Americans do not season their food to any great degree.Salads are very popular and are sereved all year, but especially in the summer. In addition, many but certainly not all,Americans drink coffee or tea with thier meals. A:Yes,that’s real. There is also another huge difference between Chinese and Western people. Chinese people use chopsticks and western people use fork and knife. B: That’s right. Usually people who use fork and knife will use fork to hold the meat and cut it by knife and use fork to help to get that piece of meat into mouse. A: Yes , and Chinese just use chopstick to pick things and pass it into your mouse. B: Generally I think every man has his hobbyhorse.(萝卜青菜各有所爱) A:I cannot agree more. As I am a Chinese I like Chinese food very much. You can see Chinese food in any where all over the world. That shows the success of Chinese food. B:Each place has its stream in from all over the country.(一方水土养一方人).Western food also have the place worth to learn. A:Time flies. I must go to work. See ya. B: See you tomorrow. 婚姻 A:Hey, moring, snow. B:hey, moring,Anna. A:May I ask you a question? B:Yes,of course, A:So if you can choose, will you marry a foreigner or a Chinese? B: Why ask this question? A:Ok, you know, a report say last year, 68,000 mixed couples registered for marriage, 4,000 more than last year in china. B:Yeah, I also heard that a man from Suzhou married with a woman from Amercian, but ther meet o lot of troubles. A:According to me,I think I can accept the mixed marriage, But I wonder if I can get my parents’ consent. B: let me guess, your parents just  want you to marry a Chinese man, right? A: you are right. It is giving me a real headache. I feel like I’m between a rock and a hard place when I meet Tom. B: Well, for most Chinese, marriage is a lifetime matter. A:Me too. B:ok ,I think I can unsderstand you, because I used to have the same problem when I was with my ex. A: oh, how did you deal with it? A: I just let it go and continued dating with my Korean boyfriend. But finally we broke up. B: oh, it’s a pity. What was the matter? A: simple. We had personality clashes and there were too many cultural differences. B: like what? A: he hoped to live in the Korean way and asked me to give up working and stay at home to take care of the family. A: Oh, I see. In their culture women should put family first. B: yes, he said it would be batter for me and for the whole family. But I simply can not quit working. A:Indeed,it is a question. B: We also meet misunderstandings because of language difficulties A: so that's why it’s hard to have a happy marriage with a foreigner. It is crucial for cross-cultural couples to get to know each other’s cultures B: not really. There are many successful mixed marriage around us. 中美文化差异 A:With China entry the WTO ,the relationship between China and Western in politics, economy, culture will become more and more close.but there  still have many differences. Do u find some since u come here over half an year ? B: yes ,especially in Greeting and Parting. When people meet acquaintances or friends, people usually greet each other. The purpose of greeting is to establish or maintain social contact. So formulaic expressions are often used, but such formulaic expressions often causes conflict because of the great cultural differences between Chinese and native Englishspeakers. In Amercian, people often employ the following expressions to greet each other “Good morning/evening/afternoon. “Fine day, isn’t it? ”How is everything going?” Have you eaten yet?” What are you going to do?” Where have you been?”etc. Westerners treat them as real question. While in Chinese, we alwayssay “你吃了吗?”“你上哪里去?”“你干什么去?”to show our consideration. A: I agree with u ,you really find a lot ,and Before the final prating, there is usual a leave-taking. Western and Chinese cultures have diverse ways to deal with leave-takings. In Chinese society, during the closing phase of and encounter, usually, from a “you ”perspective, reasons for ending the encounter are set forth in mitigatory expressions. Such expressions include“你挺忙的,我就不多打扰了。”“你一定累了,早点休息吧,我要告辞了。”, etc. With these words, they may stand up from their seats. Chinese leave-taking is very short and quick. . B:but Western people think it so abrupt that they have not prepare for it.they believe that to be willing to visit and converse with someone is to have respect for him.; often signal several times before leaving. “Well, it’s been nice to see you again. I do enjoy our talk and the lovely dinner, but I must be going soon”. Thank you very much for asking me over. I hope we’ll be able to get together again before long…”  A:well ,this  is really different from our chinese. I also  heard that  it is rude to Asking Personal Affairs in western country People from China do not regard it as asking personal affairs when they ask others name、year、marital status、wages、personal life、belief and political points. It is regard as concerns. While the westerns will think you invased their right of privacy. when we talk to the westerns, we must avoid asking some questions like this:“How old are you?”、“Are you married?”、“How many children do you have?”、“How much do you make?”、“What’s your weight?”、“Do you go to the church?” B: yeah ,just like that ,It is really a problem when the first month  I come to china. But I really find chinese always very  kind . In China,  people  always say“你辛苦了!”、“你一定累了吧!”to show our consideration when somebody from far place. While the westerners do it in a different way. They will say "How is your trip? "You must be very interesting." A:Yeah, Time flies. it is very helpful , thank you . B:  You are welcome. 家庭关系 A:Hi! nice to meet you ,snow B:Nice to meet you ,too. A:who is that ? B:Oh,he is my uncle. He stays my home from last Friday. A:Oh, I can’t believe your uncle came to stay with you for a week. B:Yeah, it’s our custom. A:  I know, but it is hard for me to get used to it. B:  Don’t your relatives visit other relatives? A:  Yes, but Americans never stay overnight. B:  I think that maybe Chinese families are closer than your families. A:  I think you’re right! B: How many people are in your family? A: I have a large family. My parents and my younger sister. B:do you live with your grangparents? A:NO,in generally,we do not live with each other.Actually, when we reach the age of 18,we can move out our family. Even my parents encourage us to be independent. B:Really? In China, most Chinese families consist of a mother, a father, a child or perhaps two, and one’s elderly parents living in the home and helping the family to raise their children while mother and father work hard to support the family financially. A:Oh, that’s amazing. But in USA, most Americans eat breakfast and lunch quickly unless it is a social, business,or family occasion. The eveing meal ,however, is usually longer and a time for the family to gather together. Rushing through daytime meals is part of the fast pace in America. As with busy people everywhere there is a real difference between a meal that is eaten in a hurry and one that can be enjoyed with friends during one's leisure. B:That’s ture. Most Chinese families have sit down dinners each night with all of the members of the family present and the matriarch of the family usually prepares a proper meal with several courses. A:Wow, this is common between Chinese and America families. B:You’re right. You know in China we put the children’s education in first place, family education plays a import role. A:Yes, I recently have read a report that family education commons between china and western countries emphasis is laid on family education. family education should be started since childhood, perform the duty promptly.parents’ unsuitable role division in education brings about some bad results . B:I think the big different between the two country of the education, one is highlighting the personaily in USA opposite to the Chinese’s collectivist. A:I cannot agree more.Time flies. It’s time for dinner. B:Yeah, I feel a little strave.Let’s go.
