Introduction about Leonardo da Vinci Firstly, I would like to introduce Leonardo da Vinci, the great painter of Last Supper. He was born in Italy in 1452, during Renaissance Period; he was a great culture celebrity. He , together with Michelangelo, Raphael they are the three jie culture. He was not only a talented painter, sculptor, architect, poet, philosopher and musician, and a very accomplished anatomists, mathematicians, physicists, astronomers and geologists, engineers and so on. During his whole life, he created a large number of masterpieces, but the most popular is the Last Supper. Basic Information about Last Supper Unquestionably, Last Supper has become the most perfect masterpiece in the world art treasure house. This picture was hanging on the wall of a monastery in restaurant in Milan. The painting was 903 centimeter in length and 421 in wide, the picture using the perspective principle, make people feel room along with the picture as a natural extension. In order to make the figure composition closer than normal meals, and is divided into four groups. The more closer the disciples to Jesus, the more excited. Jesus sat in the middle, he spread out his hands as cool as a cucumber, and tight around his disciples form bright contrast. Behind him was peaceful scenery, bright sky on his head like a halo. His eyes look at picture out, as if seen through the world naked. In many other paintings, Last Supper was recognized as an unprecedented masterpiece, especially with clever, outstanding layout, detailed realistic and strict decent relations. In the picture, Vinci showing on one side of the dining room the whole wall, the perspective of composition of hall and dining room connection structure, make the viewer has the feeling of immersive. The characters in the picture was full of fear, anger, doubt, subject expression and gesture, eye contact and behavior, are really fine, perfect. Introduction (details) about the painting As we all know, there are 13 people in the painting, including Jesus and his 12 disciples. Painter Da Vinci choose instant plot that Jesus disciple Judas betrayed him, big disciple Peter informed all the other disciples to have a dinner with Jesus on the night of the Passover. The purpose to have the dinner is not to eat but to publicly expose a traitor. When Jesus seated impromptu said:”there was a man of you betrayed Me.” after said this, caused all of the disciples a commotion, everyone made to this sentence a reflection of his personality :some said to the teacher his own loyalty, some to asked who is the traitor, some asked the elderly, the whole scene uneasy. Jesus left hand side is a group of Thomas, old Jacob, and Philip. A shadow of suspicion puzzled Thomas, asked the teacher:”there is a person betrayed you?” and beside him was James, his hands spread out wide, screaming:”this is terrible!” Young Philip covering his chest with both hands seemed to say:”do not in doubt I have a betrayal to the teacher?” his eyes show distress duo to love and loyalty. His right hand side was Peter, John and Judas, with richest expression, also is the main role of painting. St.John sat down beside Jesus, hanging head at Peter. In all the disciples, he is the love of Jesus. John was calm like Jesus. He has realized his master’s words. And Judah’s purse in his hand is a symbol of him; it remained us that Judas is the one to keep money for all the people. In the contained thirty pieces of silver coins that betrayed Jesus for gratuity. After listening to the words of Jesus, Judas emotional tension, the body slightly backward, right arm on the table, right hand sized the purse tightly, with an irrepressible fear. These 13 men, only Judah’s face is grey. The side next to the shadow of Judah is Peter, we can see he is a head of silver and a white pair of hands. Peter looks down in the bottom and right hand holding a knife, as if in the accident, behind the blade against Judah. Peter in nature and emotional, he jumped op from his seat and seems to ask John who is the traitor. Outside on the right hand side of Jesus is Bartholomew, Andrew, and young Jacob. Bartholomew seemed to doubt his ears listen to wrong, and jumped up from his seat, hand on the table, face with Jesus, emotional; keep hands up, Andrew’s fingers upward. Caught in the middle of a small Jacob nervously reached into the fourth individual shoulders from behind, form the link between the two groups. The last three his disciples on his left hand side are made of Matthew, Thaddaeus, and Simon.
