Shennongjia Scenic Area Today we will visit Shennongjia Scenic Area which is known as” the central China ridge, the green pearl”. Shennongjia is located in the Yangtze river and hanjiang river between sichuan border area, established the administrative districts in 1970. Shennongjia has quite a long history, as early as in the old Stone Age the hominids had began to take activities here. It was said that Shen Yan Emperor once framed wood for the ladder, tasted lots of grass and taught people farming, so t hat’s why people called it Shennongjia . We all know that Shennongjia is a primeval forest, of which there is a wide variety of birds , animals, insects and fish. A lot of rare species which can’t be found in other places can be seen Shennongjia. Up to now there are still some good preserve areas in the forest to protect the special style and features, including the golden monkeys, south China tiger leopard, and extremely rare animals. Therefore, in 1990 the plan was accepted by UNESCO about man and biosphere. Shennongjia is also a big natural medicinal herbs library. It has more than two thousand kinds of Chinese herbal medicine,such as musk, drugs and the rare herbs. Now with its rich natural resources and tourism resources, carrying out new and special tourist activities such as rock climbing, drifting, fresh water fishing which are popular with tourists. Clouds often nestle at the summit where ridges stretch on into the distance. The area is covered by tiers of fir, bamboo and azalea. The firs, as tall as 40 metres, have dense leaves on branches that block off the sunlight. There are azaleas blossom pink in the spring and violet in summer. The area is also home to some rare animals including the golden monkey, white bear and antelope Banbiyan, 5 kilometres from Liaowang Tower, is famous for its stone forest and for sightings of the so-called wild man, the Chinese Yeti. The bamboo that covers the mountain and plain make a great hiding place for anyone wanting to hang out with Bigfoot.At nearly 2,600 metres, the grassy meadows of Banbiyan frequently play host to a colorful festival of song and dance by the locals. Custom dictates that visitors are welcomed by song. Not quite The Sound of Music, but the spectacle is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many Shennong alter built around the hill, comprises the Temple of Heaven and to Tan.
