The plot of it make me can’t stop wondering what will happen in the next second. All of my nerves are in highly nervous and exciting condition while reading it. Every paragraph, every sentence, every word is written with caution, which makes the whole novel so vivid that I can possibly feel that I am in the same scenery as the hero. It is an attractive and excellent masterpiece that will make me can’t help continuing my reading. 2015/3/22 1.restless 英(restl?s ) Page (21) Then the horses became restless and sniffed the air. adj. unable to be relax or still. 坐立不安的,焦躁不安的 Eg: the kid gets restless.孩子有些不安份。 2. bridle 英 ('bra?d(?)l) Page (23) At this time, he grew very pale, and, looking around in a frightened way, he suddenly jumped forward, took them by the bridles and led them on some twenty feet n. headgear for a horse; includes a headstall and bit and reins to give the rider or driver control (马)缰绳,系带,约束物 vt. put the bridle on 给···装上缰绳 vi. get angry生气 Eg :Even this made me bridle. 这件事情让我很生气 3. yelp英 (jelp) Page (26) Whilst we were talking, we heard a sort of sound between a yelp and a bark. n. a sharp high-pitched cry (especially by a dog) n. 尖叫,大叫;吠声 v. bark in a high-pitched tone vi.叫喊;狗吠vt. It has a brilliant way of influencing readers’ emotion and nerves by figures’ conversation and description of the environment. For example: from page 23 to page 30, the author use a lot of words to show how frighten and fearful the coachman and horses are instead of showing us a monster directly. By seeing the coachman’s screaming, horse’s anxiety, conversation between hero and coachman, description of the dark and scary weather. You can clearly get a very scary feeling and a sense of something dreadful is approaching you. Destiny leaded him to the place which he meant to be---- Dracula’s Grave. The hero saw the words carved on the tombstone-----“ The dead travel fast”. Although the author did not make any description of the hero’s mind at that time, I guess the hero may have felt that something is coming to him or he is approaching something that is calling for him. The only thing I know is that he is an English man, which makes me a little confused. The whole novel is written in the angle of first person, which makes me sometimes feel that I were the one who was struck in the darkness and howling storm. The hero had found Dracula’s tomb and saw Dracula feeding on a woman. Then, our hero was made unconscious by something, when he woke up, he found he was lying with a big wolf which is licking his throat. He thought that he would die, (but I knew the hero would not die in almost every novel). Luckily, he was secured by a contingent of army which were completely armed.(From their conversation and actions, I guessed they might come from the Vatican to deal with Dracula). The novel is a psychological thriller about a woman suffering from anterograde amnesia. She wakes up every day with no knowledge of who she is and the novel follows her as she tries to reconstruct her memories from a journal she has been keeping. In this room I do not recognize.” ----Before I go to sleep This novel is written in the perspective of first person. It’s not describing things to the readers, but bringing the readers to a real scene to feel and experience. Words of this novel is relatively simple yet clear. Such as “strange, unfamiliar”which have not only clearly expressed the feeling of the hero but also laid the fundamental atmosphere of the whole environment.
