CYINDUCTIONBENDING(HFIB)APPENDIXINSPECTIONANDTESTINGOFPRODUCTIONBENDSPRODUCEDBYHIGHFREQUENCYINDUCTIONBENDING(HFIB)APPENDIXWELDINGPROCEDUREFORSOFTSEATEDWELDEDVALVESAPPENDIXINSPECTIONCLASSESFORPIPINGDEPCSPCNovemberPageINTRODUCTIONSCOPEThisDEPspecifiesrequirementsandgivesrecommendationsforshopandfieldfabricationandtestingofpiping,whichshallalsocomplywithANSIASMEBThisDEPisarevisionofanearlierDEPofthesamenumberdatedAugustThisDEPshallapplytoequipmentfabricatedinsideandoutsideofChinaDISTRIBUTION,INTENDEDUSEANDREGULATORYCONSIDERATIONSUnlessotherwiseauthorisedbyShellGSIandSIEPSIOPandSIEP,thedistributionofthisDEPisconfinedtocompaniesformingpartoftheRoyalDutchShellGroupormanagedbyaGroupcompany,andtoContractorsandManufacturersSuppliersnominatedbythem(iethedistributioncodeisF,asdefinedinDEPGenCSPC)ThisDEPisintendedforuseontheCSPCprojectinoilrefineries,chemicalplants,gasplantsand,whereapplicable,inexplorationandproductionfacilitiesandsupplymarketinginstallationsIfnationalandorlocalregulationsexistinwhichsomeoftherequirementsmaybemorestringentthaninthisDEPthecontractorshalldeterminebycarefulscrutinywhichoftherequirementsarethemorestringentandwhichcombinationofrequirementswillbeacceptableasregardssafety,environment,economicandlegalaspectsInallcasesthecontractorshallinformthePrincipalofanydeviationfromtherequirementsofthisDEPwhichisconsideredtobenecessaryinordertocomplywithnationalandorlocalregulationsThePrincipalmaythennegotiatewiththeAuthoritiesconcernedwiththeobjectofobtainingagreementtofollowthisDEPascloselyaspossibleDEFINITIONSGeneraldefinitionsTheContractoristhepartywhichcarriesoutallorpartofthedesign,procurement,construction,commissioningormanagementofaprojectoroperationofafacilityThePrincipalmayundertakeallorpartofthedutiesoftheContractorTheManufacturerSupplierFabricatoristhepartywhichmanufacturesorsuppliesequipmentandservicestoperformthedutiessuppliedbytheContractorThePrincipalisthepartywhichinitiatestheprojectandultimatelypaysforitsdesignandconstructionThePrincipalwillgenerallyspecifythetechnicalrequirementsThePrincipalmayincludeanagentorconsultantauthorisedtoactforandonbehalfofthePrincipalThewordshallindicatesarequirementThewordshouldindicatesarecommendationSpecificdefinitionsHydrogenservicereferstoallprocessconditionswithahydrogenpartialpressuregreaterthanbar(abs)SourservicemeanssourserviceandmoderatehighseveritywetHSservice,allofwhicharedefinedinDEPGenCSPC,AppendixVerytoxicSubstancesaredefinedinDEPGenCSPCCROSSREFERENCESWherecrossreferencestootherpartsofthisDEParemade,thereferencedsectionnumberisshowninbracketsOtherdocumentsreferencedbythisDEParelistedin()DEPCSPCNovemberPagePIPEFABRICATIONGENERALThebasisforthefabricationofpipingwillnormallybea#BillofMaterialsforPiping#,whichincludesisometricdrawings,materiallistsand(wherenecessary)additionalinformationForthecontentoftheBillofMaterials,seeDEPGenCSPCContactbetweenstainlesssteelpartsandzincorzinccontainingparts(eggalvanisedshackles,clampsandrollers)shallbepreventedinordertopreventpossibleliquidmetalembrittlementintheeventofafireIfthereisanydoubt,thestainlesssteelshallbechemicallycleanedbeforeanyfurtherworkiscarriedoutPREPARATIONCuttingandbevellingCuttingandbevellingofpipesmaybedonebyeithermechanicalmeans,flamecutting,plasmacuttingorwatercuttingThefollowingshallapply:Forcarbonsteel,flame(orarc)cutsshallbereasonablysmoothandalloxidesshallberemovedfromthesurfacebygrindingtobrightmetalForlowalloysteel,afterflamecuttingapproximatelymmofmaterialshallberemovedfromthecutsurfacebygrindingForstainlesssteel,flamecuttingshallnotbeusedbutplasmaorwatercuttingmaybeusedThesurfaceshallbegroundtobrightmetalafterplasmacuttingWeldbevelsforbuttweldsofpipesandfittingsshallbeinaccordancewithANSIASMEBShopbevellingoffieldweldsisnotrequiredifamakeuplength(extralengthforfieldcuttingtosize)isprovidedInthesecasesbevelsshallbepreparedaftercuttingtherelevantpipespooltotherequiredlengthPipesforsocketweldjointsshallbecutsquareAssemblyofpipingcomponentsForbuttweldingofallpipingcomponents(egpipeends,fittingsandweldingneckflanges)auniformrootgapshallbeprovidedasspecifiedintherelevantWeldingProcedureSpecificationUnlessotherwisestatedontheisometricdrawings,theboltholesofallflangesshallstraddlethecentrelinesofthepipeendsTheminimumdistancebetweentheedgesoftwopressurecontainingweldsshallbemmortwicethethicknessofthethickerpressurepart,whicheveristhegreaterThisisrequiredalsoforthedistancebetweennonpressureattachmentweldstoapressurecontainingweldLongitudinalweldsintwoadjacentpipesshouldbe掳apart,butinanycaseshallbeseparatedbyatleastmmortwicethewallthicknessofthethickerpipe,whicheveristhegreaterIfthepipecontainsalongitudinalweld,thisweldshallnotbelocatedatthebottomofthepipeafterinstallationitshouldbelocatedatleast掳fromthebottomofthepipeBENDINGGeneralIfeconomicallyattractive,bendingofpipespoolsmaybeconsideredasanalternativetousingweldedelbowsTheapplicationofbendingandtheextentofitsuseshallbeagreedwiththePrincipalatanearlystageofaproject,andinsuchcasesthepipingdesignshallbereviewedfortheappliedbendradiiandadaptedwherenecessaryDEPCSPCNovemberPageBendingradiishallbeindicatedontheisometricdrawingThebendingradius,Rm,shouldbexDo(whereDoistheoutsidediameterofthepipe),butinanycaseshallnotbelessthanxDoIfthepipecontainsalongitudinalweld,thisweldshouldbelocatedintheneutralzoneofthebendIfthepipewillbeinstalledhorizontally,thelongitudinaIweldshallbelocatedonthetopofthepipeIfonespoolisbentinvariousplanes,thelongitudinalweldshallbe掳fromthetopofthepipePipebendingshallbecarriedoutinpipebendingmachinesorpressesusingformersTolerancesforthinning,flatteningandwrinklingarespecifiedin()TheManufacturershallprepareabendingprocedurewhichshallinclude:operatingsequenceformingprocessandmachineryusedproductionparameters,whichshallatleastcover:widthofheatedbandheatingratebendingtemperaturerangecoolingrate,coolingmethodandcoolantflowrateproductionbendingspeedmethodoftemperaturemeasurementandrecordingbenddimensionsnondestructiveexaminationprocedurespostformingfabricationprocedurequalificationproductioncontrolprocedureThreetypesofbendingprocessesareidentified:鈥Coldbending,whichisdefinedasbendingatatemperaturewellbelowthefinalheattreatmenttemperatureofbothferriticandausteniticmaterialsColdbendingshallnotbeusedforpipinginsodiumhydroxideservice鈥Hotbending,whichisdefinedasbendingataspecifiedelevatedtemperatureHeatshallbeapplieduniformlybeforebendingLocalheatingbymanuallyoperatedgastorchesshallnotbeappliedWatercoolingatanytimeduringbendingshallnotbeapplied鈥HighFrequencyInductionBending(HFIB),whichisahotbendingprocessusingmachinesinwhichthepipesarepassedthroughaninductioncoilwhere,successively,anarrowbandofpipematerialisrapidlyheatedtotherequiredbendingtemperatureusingthehighfrequencyinductionmethodTheadjacentpipeiskeptcoolbywaterandorairjets,thusprovidingthenecessarysupportfortheheatedareawithouttheneedformandrelsItshallbeensuredthatthebendingtemperatureisuniformoverthecompletecircumferenceofthebendAninductionringwithasquareprofileshouldbeusedAnexampleofaFabricationProcedureQualificationisattachedasAppendixHFIBcanbeeconomicallyattractiveforcarbonandstainlesssteelForlowalloysteelthismethodisgenerallyattractiveonlyforspecialapplications(eglargediameters,largewallthicknesses)whereweldingelbowsarenotreadilyavailableItshouldbenotedthatthelogisticsforHFIBdifferfromotherpipespoolproductionmethodsandgenerallyrequirealargerlaydownstockingareabecausespoolsareindiametermaterialbatchesratherthanasrequiredforinstallationintheplantHeattreatmentshallbeappliedasspecifiedinANSIASMEBandinsections,andbelowBendingofnonferrousmaterialsisoutsidethescopeofthisDEPDEPCSPCNovemberPageCarbonsteels,finegraincarbonsteels,MosteelsandMosteelsColdbendingAftercoldbendingnoadditionalheattreatmentisrequiredifthefollowingrequirementsaremet:hardnessHVRmxDoIftheserequirementsarenotmet,thefollowingheattreatmentshallbecarriedout:anormalisingtreatmentfornormalisedsteelsanaustenisingquench(oil,water)andtempertreatment(QT)forquenchedandtemperedsteelsNOTETheaboveheattreatmentsmaybereplacedbyastressreliefheattreatmentatatemperatureabovethepostweldheattreatmenttemperature)ifitcanbeshownthattherehasbeennodeteriorationofthemechanicalandphysicalproperties(eggraingrowth)HotbendingHFIBIfnormalisedsteelsaresubjectedtohotbendingbetween掳CnoadditionalheattreatmentisrequiredIfnormalisedsteelsaresubjectedtothebendingoutsidethesetemperaturelimitsanadditionalnormalisingtreatmentshallbecarriedoutForHFIBthenormalisingheattreatmentafterbendingneednotbeappliedifthebendtestdefinedinAppendixshowsanormalisedstructurewithagrainsizesmallerthan(asdefinedinASTME)orGB)andahardnessbelowHVForQTmaterials,aquench(oil,water)fromtheaustenisingtemperatureplusatemperheattreatmentshallbecarriedoutinaccordancewiththepipematerialspecificationChromiummolybdenumsteelpipingColdbendingAftercoldbendingnoadditionalheattreatmentisrequiredifthefollowingrequirementsaremet:hardnessHVRmxDoIftheserequirementsarenotmetthefollowingadditionalheattreatmentshallbecarriedout:AstressrelieftreatmentfornormalisedandQTsteelsifitcanbeshownthatforsimilarmaterialnodeteriorationofthemechanicalandphysicalpropertieshastakenplaceIfthiscannotbeshownthenanaustenisingquench(air)andtempertreatmentforbothnormalisedandQTsteelsshallbecarriedoutThetemperingtemperatureshallbeselectedsuchthatthespecifiedmechanicalvaluesaremetHotbendingHFIBIfQTsteelsaresubjectedtohotbendingatatemperatureof掳C,anairquenchfromaustenisingtemperatureandatemperingtreatmentshallbecarriedoutIfnormalisedsteelsaresubjectedtohotbendingatatemperatureof掳C,anormalisingheattreatmentandcoolinginstillairshallbeappliedInallcasesthespecifiedmechanicalvaluesoftheoriginalmaterialspecificationshallbemetHFIBofferriticmaterialswithCrormoreisoutsidethescopeofthisDEPDEPCSPCNovemberPageStainlesssteelpipingColdbendingFornoncorrosiveandgeneralrefineryservice,noadditionalheattreatmentisrequiredifthedeformationislimitedtobelowforausteniticstainlesssteelorbelowforduplexstainlesssteelIfthedeformationexceedsthesevaluesafinalheattreatmentshallbecarriedoutinaccordancewiththeoriginalpipematerialspecificationForallotherservices,solutionannealingfollowedbyarapidwaterquenchshallbecarriedoutHotbendingHFIBForthenonstabilisedtypesofausteniticstainlesssteel(egAISI,AISIorequivalentChinesestandard)hotbendingshallbecarriedoutinthetemperaturerangeof掳C(solutionannealing)followedbyarapidwaterquenchForthestabilisedtypesofausteniticstainlesssteel(egAISITi,AISI,AISIorequivalentChinesestandard)hotbendingshallbecarriedoutatthehomogenisingtemperature(掳C)followedbycoolinginstillairAlternatively,aheattreatmentat掳C,thenloweringthetemperatureto掳C,followedbycoolinginstillair,maybeappliedForduplexstainlesssteel,hotbendingshallbecarriedoutinthetemperaturerangeof掳C(solutionannealing)followedbyarapidwaterquenchForHFIBofausteniticandduplexstainlesssteelthecompletepipesubjectedtobendingshallbeheattreatedasspecifiedaboveforthevariousgrades,inordertoavoidtheoccurrenceofsensitisedareasInspectionAfterbending,thebentitemsshallbevisuallyinspectedThereshallbenocracksorlinearindicationsForHFIB,theinspectionrequirementsaregiveninAppendixWELDINGInadditiontotheweldingrequirementsofANSIASMEB,thefollowingshallapply:TheGTAWprocessshallbeemployedforpipes,branchfittingsandflangesinsizesDNandsmallerForstainlesssteelpipingwithoutbackweldingoftheinternalside,therootpassshallbecarriedoutbytheGTAWprocesswithaninertgaspurgewhichshallbemaintaineduntilcompletionofthesecondpassWeldconnectionsforweldedvalvesandsteamtrapsshallbeinaccordancewithAppendixFINALCORRECTIONSFinalcorrectionsaremodificationstothedimensionsofafabricatedpipespoolinordertoallowstressfreeinstallationofthisspoolintheplantFortolerancessee()Thefollowingmethodsofcorrectionshallbeused,inorderofpreference:Adjustmentofpipesupport(s)AdjustmentofflangepositionswherefreespaceisavailableintheboltholesLocalnonuniformheatingorcoolingApplicationofforcewithlocalheatingCuttingandreweldingortheintroductionofadditionalfieldweldsorfituppiecesDEPCSPCNovemberPageThefollowingrestrictionsapplytotheheating,coolingandforcingofpipingmadefromcarbonsteel,lowalloysteelorausteniticstainlesssteel:鈥Deformationsshallnotbegreaterthaninanyarea鈥ForcarbonsteelwhichdoesnotrequireaPWHT,themaximumtemperatureduringalignmentcorrectionsshallbe掳CTemperatureindicatingcrayonsorcontactthermometersshallbeusedtomeasurethemaximumtemperatureIfusingtemperatureindicatingcrayonsamarginof掳Cshallbetakentoallowform
