DESCRIPTION
VXIS VX1937 TV encoder is a
stand-alone integrated circuit
that converts to 525-line (M)
NTSC or 625-line (B, D, G, H, I,
M, N, Nc) PAL composite video
and S-video outputs.
VX1930 integrates a digital
NTSC / PAL encoder with 8-bits
YCbCr and 10-bits DAC
interfaces.
A high level of integration and
performance makes the chip
ideal for a variety of stand-alone
and system-level integration
solutions.

EXTVGASEL 2 IN Select external clock for ADC.
EXTVGASEL=1: ADC clock from external.
EXTVGASEL=0: ADC clock internally.
Should be connected to POWER or GND.
VGACLKDIV 3 OUT Internal divider output for external gen-lock PLL.
VGACLKIN 1 IN External ADC clock input or gen-lock PLL clock.
Should be connected to GND when using internal
PLL.
DETECT_EN 28 IN Enable PLL jitter detect function. Should be
connected to GND when disable PLL jitter
detection.
Global Control Pins
HS 96 IN VGA Horizontal Sync.
VS 95 IN VGA Vertical Sync.
XRESET 93 IN Reset internal state machine and initializes default
register values. Active High.

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
Video source can be inputted directly into the chip. An internal Video processor will overwrite or mix
the OSD with the video signals before digitally encoding them to composite and S-video TV outputs,
which are converted by the three 10-bits DAC.
VIDEO PROCESSOR
The video processor control the video and OSD signals to overwrite.
VIDEO ENCODER
Pixels are retrieved from the external frame store memory asynchronously relative to the incoming
frames. Outgoing video timing is set to the selected TV (NTSC or PAL) or progressive scan
standard. Incoming data sampling is normally set to fill complete lines in the Frame Store Memory.
Horizontal scaling is applied to pixels exiting the Frame Store. Pixels may be routed through either
a digital video encoder or YUV-to-RGB transformation matrix. Either output is connected to a four
10-bit D/A converter to generate the video output that may be Composite Video and Y/C, RGB or
YUV.

Hardware control mode
The A001 is powered up to a default hardware control mode. A001 major functions can be
controlled by On Screen Display Menu push buttons.
Below picture show Hardware mode OSD with background enable. Red color identify being select
function.
Other functions, such as freeze, size, zoom, TV mode, output mode and power down, can be
controlled by dedicated pins.
