Abstract: In this paper, pathogenesis for allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) and irritant contact dermatitis (ICD) were discussed respectively. ACD is an antigen-specific skin allergies mediated by T cells with the characteristics of delayed hypersensitivity IV. In the process of ACD, a series of infiltration of inflammatory cells and the release of inflammatory mediators will appear after stimulated by allergen. ICD is another kind of skin inflammation without specific antibody. Antiseptic, flavor fragrance and cosmetics emulsifier are the three major sources of allergens causing contact dermatitis. Some misunderstandings about the cosmetic contact dermatitis were also discussed in the paper.
