Front End Developer Intern – Summer 2014 Performance Technologies www.advisory.com Recent Awards This opportunity is an 8 week paid internship based in Washington, DC beginning in June 2014 with the potential to extend into future semesters. What You’ll Be Doing - Work on projects related to the design and development of mobile & web applications and application components targeted for our Higher Education members (aka help make everything above a reality) - Participate in sessions reviewing designs, documenting front-end technical speculations, and provide time estimates for the implementation of features/fixes - Work alongside a development team converting production mockups to quality HTML5 applications for enterprise software products - Be part of a collaborative team working in an agile development environment with team members who live as close as two blocks to twelve thousand miles - Help to develop and maintain automated tests, and improve software quality through automated and manual testing - Study and learn from Front End developers working with production level applications Must Haves: - Education: Pursuing Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field - Ability to work in the Washington, DC office for a minimum of 15-20 (scheduled/predictable) hours per week between the hours 8:30am-5:30pm - Experience or interest in a Rich Internet Application Solution, HTML5 or Mobile Web Technologies - Experience working in a team environment, as well as independently - Proven oral and written communication skills Even Better: - Knowledge of cropping & optimizing production artwork using Fireworks, Photoshop, or Illustrator - Ability to communicate with UX team members in requirements and design of product features - Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities - Hands-on learning or work experience developing web applications using HTML/CSS/JavaScript - Experience with Angular, Knockout, or other Javascript frameworks - Flexibility to work across a variety of software-related disciplines: solution design, agile development, unit testing, refactoring, and build/deployment automation About Us: The Advisory Board Company (NASDAQ: ABCO) is a global technology, research and consulting firm partnering with 150,000 leaders in 3,700+ organizations across health care and higher education.
