LeiFeng Pagoda LeiFeng Pagoda LeiFeng Pagoda is located in Hangzhou, in south china. It was first built in Song dynasty thousands of years ago and was rebuilt later after its collapse. Historical myths and legends about LeiFeng Pagoda were told for generations. LeiFeng Pagoda was said to be built to imprison a female snake demon. Though being called as demon, the snake girl whose name was the White Snake was merely naughty, and unfortunately, loved too much. The White Snake fell in love with a young man called XuXian. She managed a chance-meeting with XuXian at the broken bridge to make XuXian loved her. They soon got married and made a living by running a clinic. They should have lived happily, if not for the monk FaHai. FaHai was a demon catcher, he took XuXian away from the White Snake for his safety. But the White Snake had been pregnant at that time, of course she wanted her husband back. So she went to fight against FaHai. Unluckily, her unborn son caused her defeat. The White Snake was imprisoned under the LeiFeng Pagoda after giving birth to her son. The pagoda fell down years later when her son went and prayed at the pagoda. The White Snake was finally granted freedom. LeiFeng Pagoda is now a symbol of ancient love story while the White Snake is regarded as the representative for persistent females. Amounts of tourists who are moved by this poignant love story go to visit the pagoda these years. Natural beauty-Waitomo Cave The Waitomo Caves are a cave system in the North Island of New Zealand ,in the city Aukland. The word Waitomo comes from the Maori language, which can be paraphrased as water passing through a hole. Tourists can get into the cave by boat to enjoy the magic scenery inside. Countless fireflies fly in the air. They give off flashes of light which leads us to a world like fairy tales. For me, natural beauties have been attractive enough, but when it comes to a cave full of fireflies, it can be even more fascinating. The light given off by fireflies always reminds me of hope, for their light brightens the darkness just like one’s courage light up his difficult days. Also, fireflies can only give off light when they are on their wings, it gives me a lesson that only when I am in action can I have opportunities to reach my goal. I will certainly visit the Waitomo Cave if I have enough time in the future. It is obvious that it will be a visual as well as spiritual banquet. A positive change in your life My life was changed positively by my head teacher, Miss Li ,when I was in middle school. At the very beginning in my middle school, I used to be a problem student. I failed the exams, never did my homework and never accept others’ suggestions modestly, until Miss Li called me to the corridor and gave me a talk. To my surprise, she said she had never thought about giving me up because she knew how outstanding I can be if I worked hard enough. Her words moved me deeply, tears rolled down my chicks. More surprisingly, Miss Li even wiped my tears slightly with her fingers, just like a lenient mother. Since then, I have been working hard and made great progresses. As far as I am concerned, many middle school students are rebellious and seem to be selfish. But in my opinion, most of problems are caused by the scarcity of communications. If more mental bridges can be built between individuals, like Miss Li and I, more people will have positive changes and benefit from it a lot. Butterfly Butterflies never fails to attract people because of its gorgeous wings. But when I heard stories about butterflies, I became even crazier about them. Dangers and struggles can be found in a butterfly’s life. Butterflies are first born as eggs fixed to leaves. If they are lucky enough to have not been eaten by ants when they were eggs, they will grow up into caterpillars where they meet their second natural enemy—birds. The surviving caterpillars will then spare no efforts to make cocoons for themselves. They will experience wonderful growth in cocoons to become a real butterfly. Before flying flexibly, however, they have to break cocoons and unfold their wings. During this procedure, butterflies will suffer great pains and as they are completely vulnerable after hours of striving, most of butterflies die in this period. However, it is a pity that even if a butterfly conquered all the difficulties above, it only have a life span for no more than 80days. The story revels me that only when you suffered from the pain of pain can you enjoy the happiness of happiness. I will never give up my dream of flying in my own sky, just like a butterfly. Chinese garden The Chinese garden I’d like to describe is definitely a public garden located in rural area which was reported on a TV program recently. An amiable old man used to be the original owner of the garden, but he divided it into several parts and rented each part to people lived in urban areas who wanted to experience the joy of farming. The garden caused strong repercussions, numerous people, both the young and the old, came to rent one part of the garden. Some of them planted vegetables to provide organic food for themselves while others planted flowers on their fields. But together, they enjoy the fun of labor. People in urban areas are now facing heavy pressures caused by fast-paced lives. They devote themselves to works on weekdays, but seldom do outdoor activities on weekends, the garden provides them opportunities to get out of the couch and the internet. It also gets us closer to nature and enriches our lives. Important message The most memorable gift i have ever received was a letter from my mother. When i was in adolescence, I was so rebellious that I was always arguing with my mom about little things. I always detested mom’s nagging and her misunderstandings towards me. The relationship between us dropped to the freezing point. I thought my mom never loved me. Surprisingly, I received a letter from mom on my 18-year-old birthday. In the letter, my mom said that she was deeply hurt but ashamed every time after our quarrelings. She wrote that there might be generation gaps between us, but she would like to change. Her wordings in the letter showed that her love and cares were always around me though I ignored them carelessly. I was touched by the letter. I told myself I had to change, I had to be maturer. The relationship between us then began to warm up step by step. We opened hearts to each other, we kissed on each other’s cheeks just as we did back to my childhood. Now, I read the letter frequently, as it reminds me that maternal love is always silent but magnificent. I cannot see it, but can deeply feel it. Rhythmic gymnastics The view that practice makes perfect is widely accepted. Rhythmic gymnastics, which is a perfect combination between dance and gymnastics, completely explains such a view. I first saw a rhythmic gymnastic show several years ago on an Olympic program. I was completely overthrown by its magnificent actions and the flexible bodies of the athletes. So I googled it afterwards. According to the information I get, I come to know that rhythmic gymnastics athletes have to begin practicing at a very young age, as they are supposed to do various of strenuous movements, they are forced to stretch their ligament and increase their muscle strength, which causes great pains, so their training are always companied by tears and pains at the very beginning. But with age comes the injuries and the drops in fitness, which means athletes can only have short careers. I think that an athlete’s career is like the life of a butterfly's, it's short but glorious. Since then, every time I watch a rhythmic gymnastic show, respects are raised deeply from my heart, because they give not only a visual banquet, but also a lesson in my life that I have to overcome difficulties before successes, and most importantly, I have to hold on to the last. Street in hometown There is a country road which always appears in my tranquil dreams, I can recognize it is the road outside my grandma’s house in the countryside. I was brought up by my grandparents because my parents were too busy to look after me when I was a child. So the road appeared all through my childhood. It used to be a dirt road, but it was built to be a bituminous road recently. Here I want to share a most memorable story happened on the road. Back to twelve years ago, it was a dark night , the streetlights broke down when my cousin and I were still on our way home. We were both very young at that time, so we were completely frightened by the darkness. We moved little by little carefully, considering if there was going to be a monster ahead waiting to eat us. I was about to cry when my cousin held my hand timely. He said, mama told him that if individuals could try to go through the difficulties hand in hand, all the power would be ours. So the song I want to mention is HEY JUDE. It was written by Paul McCartney in 1968, when John Lennon broke up with his wife. McCartney worried that parents’ divorce would make negative influences to Julian, Lennon’s 5 year old son. So he wrote the song for Julian to encourage him to face the following life positively. Personally, I consider that the song is about self-worth and self-consolation in the facing of hardship, Paul begins singing to comfort someone else, but also find himself weighing his feelings in the process. On the other hand , the great friendship in the song never fails to move people, so the song was sung for several decades. And it was even used in the opening ceremony of the London Olympics,2012. When I saw everyone joined in the chorus in the ceremony on TV, tears dropped down from my cheeks. In china ,the song is frequently used in graduation ceremonies, because the lyrics of the song are very inspiring, and out of question, the melody is beautiful. As for me, the song helps me to find a clear way to fight against difficulties, and reminds me the pure noble sentiment of friendship. But to my point of view, an occasion we have to behave most politely is when we first meet someone. We should wear tidy clothes to show respects to others. We may talk in a low voice in public. Oven Nothing can be more beatific than regaling cakes and lovely biscuits though we are always trapped in bitter lives. As a girl who is crazy about both eating and making cakes, the best equipment in my house is definitely the oven, which is my Man Friday. It’s a black box lies silently in the kitchen and gives out sweet smell. But at the very beginning, the oven gave out only a ball of black smoke. My father bought it for me as my 16-year-old birthday gift. You know, before I was 16 years old, I used to be a taker, but as I grew older, I realized that I should also be a giver. So I planed to give a surprise to my parents with the oven they bought to me. I spent the whole afternoon trying to bake a good looking and tasty cake. Traditional wedding Almost no one hold their weddings in traditional Chinese ways nowadays. They are fond of luxury scenes, the costly wedding dresses as well as the amazing motorcades. But the most impressive wedding I have ever attended is a simple traditional one. It was my aunt’s wedding being held last year. My aunt, the bride, got up at 5 o’clock that day to wear the make up and twist her hairs. She was wearing a red wedding dress as what Chinese used to wear in the past instead of a modern white one. At around 9 o’clock, the bridegroom came to pick up my aunt. But the thing worth mention is that the bridegroom picked up my aunt with a traditional sedan instead of brilliant expensive cars. After getting to a nearby restaurant, they held their wedding ceremony. The new couple was supposed to worship for three times on the ceremony. After the worship , they became legal couples and the guests might enjoy a big lunch. The new couple then drank a toast to every elderly guest and those guests gave lucky money covered in a red envelope to show blessings to the new couple. Only once in a lifetime do people have their own wedding ceremony, which is a start to a new period of life. I think what really matters is not how much money you spend on the ceremony, but how many attentions you pay to it. What really matters is not how much social status you gain in the grand ceremony, but to live a peaceful life with the person you love all life long. I’m really looking forward to seeing more coming out of him. advertisement It was about last year that CCTV began to broadcast a public service advertisement called which is about love and responsibilities in a family. At the beginning of the advertisement, a picture of a house appeared on the screen with an English word “family” in it. Then the word began to move, it showed that the letter “F” represented for “Father”, “m” stood for “Mother” and “I” referred to a little child. In the advertisement, the child grew up happily under the protection of his considerate parents, but as he grew older, his own judgement made him eager to run away from his parents’ guardianship, so he had conflict with his parents which really hurt them.
