考研模拟题作文范文1
In the cartoon we see a servant bringing a cup of coffee for the emperor. The joke is that the idea of emperor and the idea of coffee do not usually come together. It is funny to think of the emperor drinking coffee. But the cartoon may yet have another meaning. It implies that emperor, if he were still there today, would learn to drink coffee. Modernization is a historical trend. China is a country with a long history. It has special traditions and customs. They are the nation’s great treasures which we should do our best to preserve. However, as China opens up to the world, more and more foreign ideas and products come into country. How we take this western influence and what relationship should be established between the east and the west have become urgent questions for us to answer. For example, should we allow a coffee shop to be opened in the Forbidden City, a place which is thought to represent the essence of oriental life? Can the coffee shop integrate itself into the surrounding or will it from an eyesore? I believe that we should be open-minded about western influence. If it is good, we should not refuse it. A coffee shop in the Forbidden City will not pose an threat to our traditional culture. It will instead provide a convenient resting place for visitors who have to walk through the huge palace. The spirit of the 21st century is one of cooperation and coexistence. We should allow different cultures to exist together and flourish together. Nowadays, more and more people, especially in big cities, become interested in buying lottery tickets(彩票). According to chart 1, averagely 70 percent of those polled in the survey, held in the three big cities, claimed to have dreamed of winning the big prize of five-million yuan. 85 percent of those polled in Guangzhou had had such a dream, compared with 65 percent and 60 percent, respectively, in Beijing and Shanghai. The attraction of buying lottery tickets is obvious. The winner can get the biggest profit for the future with only a small investment. It realizes the beautiful dream of every participant—to be richer and to improve living standards. As is shown in Char 2, should they win a big lottery, 81.3% of people would buy a new house, 61.7% would buy save the money for their kid’s education. And a great proportion of people say they would put the money in the bank or use it for investment or touring. However, this phenomenon has also come under criticism. Some regard it as a kind of gambling, which is potentially addictive behavior. In my opinion, buying lottery tickets is not so bad as some people think. Instead, it is good for society by creating new jobs and representing an important source of charity and sports causes. Of course, it is not a means of making money for individual we should encourage, because the result is hardly predictable. Therefore, we should take a positive but cautious attitude towards lottery buying behavior. As we can see in the picture, a horse is starting the first step in his journey vigorously. The prancing horse, together with the line of words beneath that every journey begins with the first step, implies the importance of beginnings, and the necessity of getting off to a right start in anything that one undertakes. As we all know, the foundations of a building must be strong, or else the whole structure will fall down someday. The pioneering of any enterprise always contains the soul of it, in which is wrapped the whole motive, purpose and plan of the venture. The success of autumn crops depends on the initial steps taken in the spring. Therefore, it seems that the beginning point is dynamic and alive and often more important than any other point in the journey. When asked about the key to success, a successful author replied that the most helpful thing was to start writing. Without taking the first step, potential genius will contents itself with mediocrity. Only by trying, the first can produce the second, the second the third, and so on to the very goal. In sum, there is a magic potential in the first step taken toward a successful end in view. The cartoon describes a table tennis match. One player launches a good attack, but his opponent pulls the table away and the Ping-Pong ball falls on the ground. The opponent wins, not by skill but by cheating. This cartoon reflects a general problem in the sports of today. Almost all Olympic Games are marred by scandals of cheating. Take drug abuse(滥用药品) as example. Although the International Olympic Committee has forbidden the use of drugs and implemented urine and blood tests, there are still athletes who take risks, counting on their luck to escape the tests. It is probably the inevitable result of the change in the purpose of sports. Sports were once related with friendship and fair competition, but now more with nationalism, national anthems and national flags. People are encouraged not to appreciate individual’s skills and strengths, but to support their national teams. Sports are also related with personal success and money. If you win, you win fame and money. And for these, athletes will do anything, including cheating. This is long way off the original aim of sports of Olympics, which is to improve health, promote cooperation and teamwork, provide enjoyment and increase friendship. To stop cheating in sports, it is not enough only to strengthen rules in competition. We should also highlight the original purpose of the sports and minimize negative influence of commerce and narrow nationalism. Moreover, those who stick to the spirit of sports should be rewarded even though they are not the winners. The cartoon describes a table tennis match. How vivid and accurate the picture is in describing one of the most serious social problems concerning college students in China! As is shown in the picture, a college student, held in his father’s arm, concentrates on the book he is reading, whereas his father, sweating, carries him with great difficulty. It clearly reveals that in current China, college students are, more often than not, a burden for their parents to shoulder rather than independent young adults, as they should be. It is widely known that recent years have witnessed a dramatic increase in various fees charged by the universities. High tuition fees, plus lodging and other expenses, have become a heavy burden for university students’ parents, many of whom are farmers or laid-off workers(下岗工人). Parents’ worries also come from the heavy dependency of today’s college students, many of whom are bookworms depending on their parents for everything, Some of them even send clothes home for their parents to wash. In their mind, it is indisputably parents’ duty to take care of them. In my opinion, college students should be educated to stand on their own two feet. And government and education institutes should also help to relieve the parents’ economic burdens. Fortunately, some measures have been taken. For example, banks distribute loans to students; universities cut down charges on poor students and provide them with part time employment. As a result, we have witnessed some improvements but still there is a long way to go. As is shown in this picture, two doctors are trying hard to squeeze a sheet, but out of our expectation(出乎意料), where they get from the wet sheet is not water but money. Obviously, this picture implies a horrible phenomenon in China: what hospitals care most is earning money instead of saving lives. It is a secret from no one that some hospitals nowadays are making profits by prescribing more expensive medicine to patients or arranging unnecessary medical examinations for them. They get such a high profit hat it seems they’ve got the license to print money. What these hospitals forget is one crucial principle that should be observed as their doctrine—hospital should be the right place to save lives rather than somewhere to make undue profits. Then how to avoid a further worsening of this tendency has become hotly discussed topic in media. One measure is to make the purchasing process more transparent, thus to bring down the price of medicines. Moreover, the patients should be well informed so that they may buy cheaper medicine which has the same effects as the expensive one. We have confidence that, if sound measures are taken, hospitals will become a much purer place in the near future. I was profoundly shocked by what I have seen in this picture. As is shown in the picture, employers are particular about the female applicants for vacancies. They have extra requirements that women job seekers should be young and beautiful, but ironically, they only offer the low-paying positions without retirement pension, welfares, and weekends. What is reveled in this picture is a prevalent phenomenon in contemporary society. Some employers set very high standards for their female employees who must be not only qualified in education, but also outstanding in personal appearance. Therefore, it is not strange to hear reports about female graduates from famous universities failing to find a job because of the prejudices and the high standard held by the employers. Then what can we do to tackle this problem? One of the solutions, in my opinion, is that a positive attitude should be created in society towards female applicants. Women can over perform men in many aspects such as carefulness, patience, delicacy. On the other hand, female employers also should have confidence and the firm belief hat if they are really, they can surely find a satisfactory job despite all the prejudices. The popularization of computer has made it possible to read books on computer. With it, there is much discussion about whether e-books will replace traditional print-on-paper books. Some people say they like only e-books, which are quicker and more convenient to get and use. To get a needed book, one has to spend much time or money in searching for buying it in bookstores, but one can just type in the title, author or other related information of the book to find it in minutes on internet. Sometimes one can even read the full content to a digitized book free of charge or instantly discuss about a book in an online forum. Moreover, a lot of information of books can be stored in small compact disc, which is easy to take. Other people, however, think printed books are still necessary. In the first place, too much time in front of the computer can cause eyestrain or increase radiation risks. Second, a printed book can be read at your convenience .One can read in bed before sleep or during a boring journey, without fussing with a computer. In sum, since e-books and printed books have their respective advantages and can complement each other, I would like to combine the two ways to meet different needs. For quick reference, a digitized book will probably be useful. To appreciate a poem or a novel, I prefer the traditional way of reading on printed books. The picture presents us with a scene when a young man is climbing up a high and steep mountain. As there is no ready path leading up to the top, the climber is confronted with difficulties, obstacles, and even dangers. Without sufficient strength, iron will, enough patience and courage, it seems impossible for him to reach the summit. The case with the climber, I suppose, is true of people in all walks of life. Anyone who longs for a meaningful and successful life has to ascend from the starting point up to his/her goal as the climber does. Consequently, the fight for success can be won only by those who have strong resolutions and inflexible spirits. Successes can never be attained without painstaking effort and perseverance. Countless facts justify my arguments. Thomas A. Edison, who was once a paper boy on the train, would never have become a great scientist and inventor, hadn’t he made persistent endeavors to achieve success. As a college graduate, I’m resolved to pursue graduate studies and achieve something significant in my field despite of any troubles, hindrances, or even failures. I believe that there is nothing hard in the world only men lack a strong mind. The picture shows that an adult hand holding a gold coin is going to drop it into a piggybank, on which two academic caps are represented. The picture is simple and its meaning is clear: young adults should manage to finance themselves for their higher education rather than rely on their families for support. The market economy and competitive society prompt most young people to drive themselves vigorously studying for higher academic degrees, and some of them are seeking opportunities to study abroad. However, great expense hinders them from their goals. In overcoming the financial obstacle, self-reliance is most advisable while dependence on parents or relatives is shameful. As an adult student, I am planning to pursuer graduate studies by work-study strategy. First, I shall go through my first two-year course by both winning scholarships with excellent academic achievements and taking part-time jobs. Then, I’ll interrupt my regular course to work for a certain organization or company for one or two years. This I shall do for the double purpose of saving enough money for further education and getting some knowledge of social conditions, which may help to turn my book learning into something practical. When I resume my graduate studies, I shall finish my program with a both creative and practical thesis. Although highly industrialized, the U.S. society is characterized by crimes of violence and theft. The crime victims, as the graph shows, cover a wide range of age groups, from teenagers to the elderly. People aged 12-15 are the most frequent victims of theft, and those aged 16-19 occupy first place in the violence victims. In general, youngsters under 24 are the prime victims of both crimes. It is obvious that the U.S. young generation is living in danger of suffering and committing crimes, which indicates the fatal wound of U.S, education and the deterioration of its social morality. Growing up in the circumstance filled with unchecked abuse of guns and drugs, violence on TV and in the movies, racial discrimination, etc. the American youngsters can hardly escape the destiny of being their victims. It is also clear that the safety of the U.S. people as a whole is seriously threatened by crimes. The American society, I am afraid, would be ruined if no drastic measures were to be taken to check crimes of violence and theft, and to strengthen both school and public education in morality and ethics. The picture are true records of some people’s unhealthy behavior, in which we can see all the wastes discarded by the picnickers: refuse newspapers, plastic bottles, tin cans, food wrapping and leftovers. The litter in the public places witnesses certain people’s uncivilized conduce for lack of social morality and the sense of environmental protection. Obviously, their foolish behavior results in destruction of natural landscapes, violation of public sanitation, and pollution of environment. These people may be unconscious of their wrongdoings, but it is this unconsciousness that is most worrying and shocking, for it signifies a deep-rooted bad habit that could hardly be rid of without sufficient education and social supervision. Unfortunately, this phenomenon is not rare or occasional. Besides littering, many ill habits, such as spitting everywhere, making terrible noises regardless of time and place, rude or even violent manners toward others, etc., are all incompatible with modern civilization. Although such people are in minority, their bad behavior is causing serious problems. The effective measures to be taken to change the situation may include strengthening public education, making related laws and regulations, establishing strict social supervision and penalty systems. I believe our society will become more beautiful and healthful when everyone is consciously watchful of his/her behavior. The picture presents a real traffic scene in which endless columns of vehicles have jammed the road, making movement impossible. Much valuable time is wasted and many important businesses are delayed in the helpless waiting for progress. It’s no exaggeration to say that the inconvenience and losses caused by traffic jams are inestimable. Traffic problem is an inescapable outcome of social and economical development, and therefore is common to most capital cities all over the world. The accelerated urbanization, the rapid increase of private cars, and the lag of road construction are responsible for traffic congestion. As the traffic problem involves many factors, there is no single measure that can solve it once for all. For the present, realistic solutions may include: To give priority to improving and developing mass-transit system, both ground and underground; To set up proper limits to private vehicles; To perfect traffic regulations and management, and To advocate bicycling or walking between home and office. However, any successful resolution of the problem depends not so mush on public concerns and appeals as on the initiative and determination of the local municipal administrations. The chart shows that the U.S. workforce, about 145 million in number, matched job demands well in 2000. However, the gap between workforce and jobs, especially skilled jobs, appeared soon after 2001. The shortage of skilled workers is estimated to grow to about 5.5 million in 2010, and 25 million in 2020. The cartoonist warns that the supply of labor is about to fall seriously short of demand, which means that the economical development will be hampered by the scarcity of labor, especially skilled workers, over the next 20 years. The labor squeeze may result from the fact that the existing workforce is going to get out soon, and the feeder pool just isn’t coming up. Possible precautions against the threat of labor shortage may include: providing effective job training for most employees, bidding up wages for skilled workers, tempting older workers to stay on the jobs they are skilled in, and lobbying the government to raise the share of skilled immigrants. Anyhow, what Americans are to do least is ignore the severity of the problem. The draft map shows the distribution of oil fields discovered over the five continents. As illustrated on the map, there are only five oil fields developed before 1950 that are located in Asia and America. The number of oil fields pri
