Name:Jane Class:123 Student Number:2012012916 Backgrounds about the Jane Austen Jane Austen was born in Steventon, Hampshire, in the south of England, in 1775. She was the seventh of eight children of George Austen. Jane Austen’s life was an uneventful one, although some of her relatives led more exciting lives. She never married, it seems that she this quiet, ordered existence was necessary to Jane in order that she could write. By the way, she educated by her father and older brothers as well as herself, so the family’s educational support is a critical factor of her being a professional writer. From 1811 until 1816, with the release of Sense and Sensibility (1811), Pride and Prejudice (1813), Mansfield Park (1814) and Emma (1816), she achieved success as a published writer. She also wrote another two additional novels, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion, both of them were published in 1818. However, early in 1816, she began to feel unwell, but she still worked with her illness and continued to work her novel, which was eventually named Sandition. And in the middle of this year, her health faded away so quickly even everybody in the family noticed. Unfortunately, she died in the following year. What a pity for the literary circle. Brief introduction about Pride and Prejudice The story began with the moving in of Mr Bingley who was a rich, unmarried young man and he rented a large house in the neighborhood. So Ms Bennet was determined that Mr Bingley should marry one of her daughters. As she expected Mr Bingley quite liked Jane when they first met her at the ball. At the same time, Bingley’s friend Darcy met with Elizabeth and impressed by her. And few days later, he invited Jane to his house. However, Jaen reached his house with cold because of her mother’s command. After Jane came back home, their cousin Mr Collins visited they, actually he just wanted to found a wife. And finally he married Charlotte, a close friend of Elizabeth. One day, all the Miss Bennets met Mr Wickham, a selfish official who resented Darcy. And Mr Wickham said many bad things about Mr Darcy. Mr Bingley went back to London, which made Jane heartbroken. What’s more, Elizabeth found that it was Darcy that caused this tragedy. All this things made the hates Elizabeth to Darcy reaching new heights, and Elizabeth refused Darcy’s propose and quarreled with him drastically. Then Mr Darcy wrote a long letter to explain all this things and that’s all Elizabeth’s prejudice, he was not pride at all. And Elizabeth married to Darcy eventually. My feelings about Pride And Prejudice Generally I think Jane Austen want to expound her own vision of love by writing four couples of lovers, Lydia and Wickham, Charlotte and Collins, Jane and Bingley, and Elizabeth and Darcy. The worst couple is Lydia and Wickham. Lydia is frivolous and likes handsome officials. She is very stupid, as she can elope with Wickham because of Wickham’s enticement. She doesn’t care about the bad consequence lead to her family members. For Wickham, he is more complicated than Lydia. He is the son of Darcy’s steward, and he brought up with Darcy, also Darcy’s father promised him to let him be a pastor. But he wasted all his money by gamble. He slanders Darcy’s pride and acerbity, which caused Elizabeth felt sick of Mr Darcy at that time. This couple won’t live a happy life, because they are too selfish and they married just by a temporary passion. Also, I don’t think that Mr Wickham really loves Lydia. Charlotte and Collins are very realistic, they even can’t be regard as lovers. Charlotte marries to Collins because she is 27 years old and already has been the burden of her family, and she doesn’t care about love, she just wants a peaceful life. And for Collins, at first he just thinks that he should marry one of the Miss Bennets, because he will inherit all of Mr Bennet’s fortune after his own death. However, after being refused by Elizabeth, he in the same day comes to Charlotte and asks her to marry him. Their marriage doesn’t base on love, so they won’t feel happy either, but may be they can live a peaceful life. Next comes to the love story between Jane and Mr Bingley, They are quite similar in personality, for both of them are filled with kindness. They fall in love at first sight. However, Jane behaves too gentle so that Darcy thinks she doesn’t love Bingley as much as Bingley loves her. And also, Jane doesn’t have family property as all of her family property will be given to Mr Collins when Mr Bennet died. Therefore, Mr Darcy as the friend of Mr Bingley thinks he has the responsibility to prevent his friend from such a worthless marriage. And his viewpoint does influence Mr Bingley, so Bingley leaves Jane and goes back to London. Until Elizabeth quarrels with Mr Darcy wildly does Darcy know his stupid and callous mistake. So Mr. Darcy makes an apology to Mr Bingley, and Mr Bingley comes back to the Netherfield and falls in love with Jane again. After all of these things, Jane and Bingley more ensure that they belong together. Jane and Bingley are very suitable for each other, and Bingley is very much in love with Jane. Therefore it’s cute and happy couple. The main characters are Elizabeth and Mr Darcy. They meet in the ball, however, at that time, Mr Darcy even distains to have a dance with Elizabeth. Therefore he gives a bed impression to Elizabeth which he is very pride. Also, after hearing too much malicious remarks about Darcy by Mr Wickham, she believes that Darcy is a pride man even without a shadow of doubt. However, when they meet at the house of Darcy’s aunt, Darcy is so much in love with Elizabeth and he makes propose to Elizabeth, and of course, Elizabeth refuses to marry him resolutely. Thanks to the letter that Darcy writes to Elizabeth that lets her forgive him. Also the elopement of Lydia and Wickham makes their story to a new turning point, because Darcy spends lots of his fortune to solve this problem and let them finally get married. Until that moment does Elizabeth understand that she always misunderstands Mr Darcy. Darcy expresses his feelings to Elizabeth again, and this time, Elizabeth accepts his proposal. The story ends with a happy ending that Elizabeth and Darcy finally get married after going through so many things. True love will overcome the difficulties.
