TL1010 Interior Trim - Equipment Materials englisch May 1997 VW SEAT SKODA Interior Trim / Equipment Materials TL Burning Behaviour, Material Requirements AUDI 1010 55 00 0 Central Standard Documents Modifications PV 3904 E Compared to the Mai 1994 edition, the following modifications have been made: VW 011 55 - New subdivision of standard VW 911 01 - Incorporation of VW 011 55 and VW 911 01 - Incorporation of definition for interior trim materials DIN 75 200 Earlier editions First edition: 10.71 Last modification: 05.96 1 Scope These technical terms of delivery define the burning behaviour of materials/components of the passenger compartment. This concerns every part of a single or composite material, the surface of which comes into contact with the passenger compartment’s airspace and which is situated at a depth of max. 13 mm (? inch), starting from the passenger compartment. In the case of parts that are not joined to each other across their entire surface and which follow each other in the assembly, the depth of 13 mm has to be taken into account once more after removal of the part that is closest to the passenger compartment (refer to figure 1), until a layer is on hand that is thicker than 13 mm or until an overall depth of 26 mm (1 inch) has been reached. 2 Definitions Passenger compartment materials / components: seat cushions, seat backs, safety belts, roof liner, cabriolet folding tops, arm rests, all trims and linings, storage boxes, head rests, floor coverings, sun visors, curtains, sunblinds, wheel housing covers, engine compartment covers, seat covers and all other materials used inside the passenger compartment, including upholstery and elements that unfold during a collision and are designed to absorb energy in case of a collision. VOLKSWAGEN AG – SEAT S.A. – SKODA automobilova a.s. – AUDI AG Page 2 TL 1010:1997-05 E 3 Requirements 3.1 Basic specifications Approval of first delivery and modification according to VW 011 55 „Vehicle vendor parts, general”. Avoidance of harmful substances according to VW 911 01 “Environmental standard vehicle”. Passenger compartment materials / components in their entirety have to comply with the respective requirements of the national regulations, in particular 571.302 (USA), CMVSS 302 (Canada) and TRIAS 48-1993 (Japan), if they are intended for export to such countries where compliance with these requirements is compulsory. 3.2 Validity of requirements The minimum requirements below have to be met by all passenger compartment materials / components (see paragraph 2). Even if only one individual random sampling value does not comply with the requirement, this will be sufficient reason to reject the whole delivery. 3.3 Obligation to present evidence Paragraphs in table 1 marked with a cross bar ( ) are subject to an obligation to present evidence, if the number of the technical terms of delivery is also marked with a bar on the drawing or if a corresponding TLD-No. appears on the drawing. Documents have to be retained for 10 years. 3.4 Burning behaviour Refer to table 1. The tests are carried out on unaged material and material aged in accordance with PV 3904. Test results determined on aged material are not subject to the obligation to present evidence. Test results of parts with a sample length of < 100 mm are also not subject to the obligation to present evidence. For such parts, it may be agreed to carry out the test on slab material, the thickness of the slabs to be tested having to correspond to the thinnest wall thickness or thickness of the finished parts. Samples have to be taken from the material direction with the highest burning rate. The material surface that is closest to the passenger compartment airspace must be pointing downwards. Except for samples with a width < 51 mm, the use of support wires is only permitted if test specimen sag or coil up under the influence of flames (preliminary test), leading to irregular burning as a result of a no longer horizontal combustion. The following applies to parts with a sample length < 10 mm : distance between support wires 10 mm. st1 wire 100 mm away from open bracket end. 5 Equally applicable documents Refer to the field “documents” on page 1.
