1)do is a general word for actions.
E,g What are you doing now? I am giving a lesson.
I have nothing to do today,but yesterday I did a lot of things. 2)we use do with a-ing form as a noun when we talk about activities.we can use some or a lot of or the before –ing form.
e.g do some shopping/do some reading/do a lof of washing/do some washing-up/
do some ironing/do some birdwatching/do sightseeing
Q:Who does the washing-up after dinner at your home?
Q:If your friends visit QD,where will you recommend them to do some sightseeing? 3)some certain nouns are usually followed by do

1)when we talk about creating/producing/constructing something,we usually use make rahter than do.e.g make coffee/tea,make umbrella,make a meal,make one’s bed
From my explainnation,you see do is a general word of action.make is for creating activities.e.g I did a lot of things yesterday.I made a T-shirt for my son.I made a cake for my husband.I made a cup of coffee for myself.
