nullnull大学英语三级 背诵篇章1. My Views on Examinations1. My Views on ExaminationsIn most colleges and universities the examination is used as a chief means of deciding whether a student succeeds or fails in mastering a particular subject. Although it does the job quite efficiently, its side effects are also enormous.nullTo begin with, examinations lower the standards of teaching. Since teachers are often judged by examination results, they are reduced to training their students in exam techniques. No subjects can be taught successfully merely through being approached with intent to take examinations. In addition, the most undesirable effect is that examinations encourage bad study habits. As the examination score is the only criterion for his academic performance, a student is driven to memorize mechanically rather than to think creatively.nullIn fact, few of us admit that examinations can contribute anything really important to the students’ academic development. If that is the case, why cannot we make a change and devise something more efficient and reliable than examinations?2.Jobs for Graduates 2.Jobs for Graduates Job hunting has always been a headache for college graduates. Though many graduates are employed right after graduation, some are not. Most serious of all, some still have no idea where to go working even a long time after graduation. nullThe reasons for this phenomenon are various. On the one hand, a few years ago colleges and universities enrolled so many students in popular majors, such as economy, finance and so on that the number of graduates was greater than the need in the market. On the other hand, most graduates would rather stay in large cities without suitable job to do than go to the country.null I think the problem can be solved if both colleges and students take measures. First, they should research the market and develop special skills to suit its need. Second, students' attitude towards employment should be changed. They should go to some small cities and country. There they can also give full play to their professional knowledge. In a word, if we pay much attention, the problem can be solved.3. Internet3. InternetOwing to the speedy economic development, the number of the people who use Internet has considerably increased. It is universally acknowledged that Internet plays a crucial role in modern society.nullDue attention has to be paid to the issue of Internet. (pay due attention to…) With the reform and opening-up in recent decades, people in mounting numbers have come to realize the significance of Internet. Unfortunately, if we let this situation continue as it is, we do not know where humans will be in the forthcoming future.nullAccordingly, it is imperative for us to take drastic measures. To begin with, we should cultivate the authorities to make strict laws to control Internet. In addition, we should cultivate the awareness of people that Internet is essential to us. Only in this way can we solve the problem.4. Importance of Education4. Importance of EducationChina, as a developing country, is determined to catch up with and even surpass the developed ones. I think that one of the best possible ways to do so is to give first priority(优先)to the development of culture, science and especially education.null In modern times, when science and technology are making great progress, the education of the work force is of primary importance. Moreover, many of the success in advanced countries have demonstrated that a nation 's prosperity mainly depends on the quality of its labor force, namely those who have been well educated.nullIn a developing country such as China, our investment in culture, education and science, and especially elementary education, must enjoy top priority. This is crucial(决定性的)for China to catch up with the developed nations in today's surging(汹涌的) waves of technological revolution. Otherwise, the gap between China and advanced countries will be widened rather than bridged.5. Certificates Craze on Campus 5. Certificates Craze on Campus In recent years, to get a certificate has become a new craze among college students. Just randomly, ask a student on campus what he or she is busy doing, quite possibly, you may get the answer that he or she is preparing for a certificate of some kind.nullWhy does this craze appear? There are two mainly reasons behind this phenomenon. First, it is the employments pressure that forces college students to get more certificates. With the admission expansion of colleges, a large more graduates have to face the fierce competition in the job markets. How can one make himself more competitive, more certificates at hands maybe. Second, the diplomas and certificates are still important standard by which many employers measure a person’s ability in order to increase qualification for a job; the students compel themselves to run from one exam to another.null From my point of view, we should be more rational when it comes to certificates, since certificates do not necessarily prove one’s ability. Being crazy in getting certificates blindly. It is nothing but wasting time. To conclude, we should focus on improving our ability but not getting a certificate of no practical value.6.Should Class Attendance Be Required? 6.Should Class Attendance Be Required? Nowadays required class attendance is very common at colleges and universities. Most people take it for granted that students should attend all the classes required by school. However still some others do not agree with this argument. They don't think it should be compulsory for students to attend class. nullAs for me, I'm in favor of the latter opinion. The following reasons can account for my preference. First, the rigid attendance policy does not benefit students' studies. For example, a student may have to give up a lecture which he finds useful to his studies simply because he dare not run the rest of being penalized for his absence in his course. Second, the lectures of some teachers are not always constructive. A student should be allowed to tell for himself whether an in-class experience is worthwhile. Finally and most importantly, there is no proving and relation between class attendance and academic performance. A student may never be absent in a course, but who knows whether or not he is just sitting there daydreaming all the timenullIn conclusion, class attendance may secure one hundred percent attendance for a course. But it is not really beneficial to us. As college students we should learn to make the right decisions for ourselves about whether to attend a class.7.On University Mergence7.On University MergenceUniversity mergence is a new trend in university development. As a hot topic on and off campus, it has received much of public attention. People's attitudes towards it vary greatly. People who are against it see it as a hasty decision, which has some potential problems. They claim, for instance, located far away from each other, universities involved with mergence are usually faced with the tough problem of management. nullOther people who favor it see it as a step that universities take towards the goal of first-rate world university. They argue that, only through mergence can university take full play of advantages and make up their disadvantages. Like the mergence between Tsinghua University and the Institute of Applied Arts. The university's strengths in the field of high technology complement the latter university that has a reputation for art. They also point out that by mergence the Chinese universities will increase their competitive power in the world.nullIn my opinion, the university mergence has more advantages than disadvantages, but the university should take into account the potential dangers resulting from the mergence.8.On Talent Shows8.On Talent ShowsOver the past couple of years, a variety of talent shows have emerged on TV channels across the nation, from Super Girls to Happy Boys and so forth. This type of entertainment program is intensely popular, especially among young adults and has produced profound studies and life. (phenomenon)nullThere are a couple of reasons behind the tide. To start with, young folks need role models to learn from. So many of them are crazy for the contestants participating in these programs. This gives rise to the increasing emergence of these shows because TV networks naturally need to cater to young audiences. Plus, thanks to economic and political reforms carried out by the government, this crop of young generation has more freedom and desire to express and show themselves. therefore, a growing number of young people desire to get involved in these shows. nullThis is a divisive topic. On my personal level, the talent show is a superb means of relaxing and amusing and can hugely relieve our strains. As college students, however, we could not afford to indulge in them and should be aware of the utmost importance of studies.
