But, until last year, Condoleezza Rice, the former United States Secretary of State, would appear in my mind. Every time when people refer Condoleezza Rice, they will show surprise and admiration on her clear mind, the ability to 1 deal with emergency and her status, as she was the first black woman, second African American to serve as the Secretary of State. However, what I want to tell you is not her great success, but her great characteristic and how she succeeds. You know, she is black, and when she was young, the racial discrimination still existed. But she has never showed weakness before others. I hear that her families have a belief that “Only if the black do two times better than the white, can they be treated equally. And only if the black do three times better, can they surpass the white.” With this belief, Rice devoted almost all her time to learning and improving herself. And it is because of her diligence that she graduated from Stanford University at the age of 19 with the comprehension of four languages and became the first black and youngest Provost at Stanford University. What’s more, she is an expert on Russia. However, it’s wrong of you if you just regard her as a bookworm, who knows nothing else but books. Since 2 she was young, she has had an eye for piano. What’s more, Rice is also good at sports, such as skating, tennis, and football. Every morning, she gets up at half past four, even earlier than the former President of America, Bush. Once she even said that she would rather work as the President of the National Football League than work as the Secretary of State, if possible. What impresses me most is her devotion and loyalty to her job and country. She concentrated on her work without too much attention on setting her own image. As to the fact that she has not been married yet, I think, it needs no explanation. The entire suspect about her private life is meaningless and silly. In a word, the success of Rice gives hope to all the black who still live in the gloom of racial discrimination, and showed everyone, including all of us here, how to fight for success and a promising 3 future. I know Rice’s father has ever told her that you may not be able to pay for a hamburger, but you may also become the President. And this is just what I want to tell all of you. Through Rice’s story, I think you have learned which choice is better and how to make it come true. At last, if you like, you can pay a visit on Rice at Stanford University, because since March, this year, she has returned to Stanford University as a political science professor.
