In my opinion, generally book knowledge is more specialized and systematic than experience. However, we still cannot say definitely that book knowledge is more important than experience. As we know, if one is more important than the other one, it depends on circumstance. As follows, I would like to state this point.
On the one hand, undoubtedly, books teach a wide rang of knowledge which is very rich and overall. We nearly can learn various subjects of knowledge gained from books. On the contrary, knowledge gained from experience is often under the influence of other factors and also is limited by the range of an individual. Unlikely experience, books seem no limitation, by which we can learn and enjoy the pleasure of study. For instance, in libraries, we can learn every kind of books, and no need get effects by the imitation of an individual. Sometimes, we also can get knowledge of experience by reading a book.
On the other hand, to some extent, it is can be argued that knowledge of experience is much easier to learn and comprehend than that of books. Some books just are written depending on vast and rich experience. Some private events, like how to deal with private finance, can seldom be taught comprehensively and
thoroughly in a book. And some knowledge gained from books is also based on the knowledge of experience. For example, writing a book of teaching how to swim is undoubtedly based on vast of swimming experience. Moreover, when one wants to learn how to swim, he or she has to learn the experience of a teacher and jump into water instead of holding a swimming book.
In conclusion, which source is more important, the answer varies. It depends on the different conditions. In some fields, some knowledge can be obtained only though reading books. One wants to know history but not to read a history book, he will get nothing. On the contrary, some knowledge could be acquired only though experience. When farmers eager to get a fair harvest, they should learn a lot of knowledge of experience on sowing, watering and so on. Finally, I would like to say that if we really want to acquire something, we had better learn the knowledge of both books and experience so that we can comprehend something deeper and more systematic.
