Revision of attributive clause Target Students: Class One, Freshmen majoring in Preschool Education Teaching Objectives: 1.Knowledge Objectives: Ø Ss will be able to define what attributive clause is. Ø Ss will be able to distinguish the different sentence elements of "who, which, that, whom, /, whose" in attributive clause. 2.Ability Objectives: Ø Ss will be able to use the relative pronouns "who, which, that, whom, /, whose" correctly. Ø Ss will be able to produce simple attributive clause at the end of the class. 3.Affective Objective: Ø By learning the attributive clause in an interesting, easy and happy way, the fear of Ss' learning grammar will be overcome, and replaced by interest instead. Teaching Emphasis: Ss will be able to master the basic usages of the relative pronouns: who, which, that, whom, whose, Teaching Difficulties: Ss will be able to produce some simple attributive clauses correctly. Teaching Approaches: Deductive Approach, Task-based Approach Learning Strategies: Communicative & Cooperative Strategy, Inductive Strategy Teaching Aids: Computer assisted instruction, blackboard, book, paper, etc. Blackboard Design: 关系代词 先行词 关系代词在句中所做的成分 which sth. 主语 宾语 that sth. sb. who sb. whom sb. 宾语 whose sth. /sb. 定语 Teaching Procedure: Part One: Leading in. Main Information Specific Aims Teacher’s Activities Ss’ Activities Leading in: Guessing Game 学生通过猜谜游戏,产生对本节课的学习兴趣。 Present some sentences and let Ss guess what they describe. Guess what the sentences describe. Part Two: Presentation and Practice. Main Information Specific Aims Teacher’s Activities Ss’ Activities Step 1: The Attribute Clause 学生通过例句分析与及时练习理解定语从句、先行词、关系词的 概念,及定语从句与先行词的位置关系。 1) Introduce the concepts of the attributive and antecedent to Ss by analyzing a simple clause and an attributive clause. 2) Help Ss understand the concepts better by analyzing eight sentences, and introduce what relative word is. Try to understand the relative concepts by teacher’s detailed explanation and assigned practice. Step 2: who/which/that 学生通过观察、归纳、讲解与练习,能够明确先行词为人时关系词用 who/that,先行词为物时关系词为which/that. Help Ss learn to summarize the basic usages of who/which/that by observing the eight sentences in the above Practice. Observe the sentences and try to sum up the basic usages of who/which/that. Step3: whose 学生能通过例句的呈现理解whose 在定语从句中的用法,并在游戏“大家来找 茬”中能够正确使用whose。 1) Explain the usage ofwhose in attributive clauses. 2) Present two similar pictures and let Ss find out the differences. 3) Help Ss master the usage of whose better by filling in the blanks in the 5 descriptions. Try to understand the usage of whose, and find out the differences and fill in the blanks. Step 4: whom, / 学生通过教师讲解能理解关系词在句中的成分,并在练习中学会据此判断 何时可以省略关系词或使用whom. Present how to judge what the role relative words plays in an attributive clause, and help Ss understand when the relative words could be omitted and when to use whom after practice. Try to understand what the teacher presents and explains, and learn to use them correctly in exercise. Step 5 Making up attributive clauses. 学生通过教师讲解,及描述S.H.E. 的练习,学会使用 定语从句描述一个人或物。 Ask Ss choose one of the following tasks to finish: Task A: Tell the others which one is Selina/ Hebe/ Ella, according to some information given by the picture, by using the attributive clause. Task B: Describe one member of S.H.E. according to what you know about them. Work in groups, choose at least one task to finish. Part Three: Production. Main Information Specific Aims Teacher’s Activities Ss’ Activities Production: Guessing Game. 学生能够用定语从句准确描述人物或事物。 1) Introduce the rules of the guessing game. 2) Ask Ss to describe the person or thing presented by CAI one by one, and let the other Ss guess who (s)he is/ what it is. Describe the people/things presented by CAI by using attributive clauses, and guess what they are. Part Four: Summary. Main Information Specific Aims Teacher’s Activities Ss’ Activities Summary 学生能在老师的帮助下,回顾定语从句的相关概念,总结所学关系词的用法。 Finish a frame, help Ss go over some relative concepts about attributive clause, and summarize the usages of relative concepts. Go over the relative concepts and sum up the usages of relative concepts with Teacher. Part Five: Homework One:归纳定语从句的用法. Two:完成定语从句小练习.
