This passage is mainly about a great doctor-- John Snow and his great contribution to defeat cholera. It is the most important part in this unit and it tells students the qualities and great contribution of John Snow. Students may learn something about science and scientists on TV during their holiday, but they don't have too much knowledge about the topic. He was so famous that he became the personal doctor for Queen Victoria. Four outbreaks of cholera in the 1830s and 1840s killed many people in England. In 1854, the most terrible outbreak of cholera which ever occurred in the kingdom began. It was so violent and sudden that 127 people died in the first three days. 2.
