Then how to be friendly and charming? Pre-reading Learn the new words and phrases together, and do some simple explanations. While-reading 1. master the idea of the text. 2. remember the four qualities needed to improved the relationship between our friends and us. After-reading 1. Answer the question: What are the qualities needed to improve the relationship between our friends and us? Answer: smile, listen, have something funny to say, appreciate 2. Finish the tasks(1-3)quickly and correctly. 3. Read the whole text again and again. Ss read the text and find the key phrases . What are the qualities needed to improve the relationship between our friends and us? ① 句中needed是过去分词做定语,修饰qualities,意为“所需要的品质”。 improve v. 意为“提高、改善”,通常用作及物动词。如: In order to improve my oral English, I practise it everyday. ② between…and…意为“在……和……之间”,指两者之间。如: There is a road between the dinning hall and the library. A football match will be held between the two class. ③ 如果是指“三者或三者以上的中间”,则要用among。如: These difficulties are general among people of his age. 【拓展训练】 ( ) The secret is only you and me. Have a collection of jokes and make your friends laugh. ① a collection of指“一个系列,一连串”,如: ② make your friends laugh 让你的朋友开怀一笑。这是“make+宾语+补足语”的结构。在这一结构中,补足语可以是省略to的不定式、过去分词或形容词形式。 如: Taking some medicine makes me feel much better. They made the boy stand under the tree. (以上两例都是省略to的不定式做宾语补足语,如果变成被动语态,则to要加上。如:The boy was made to stand under the tree. ) The speaker raised his voice to make him heard. All of us have our own problems and need somebody to listen to us. need somebody to listen to us意为“需要有人来倾听我们”。need在这里用作实意动词,意思是“需要”。need是英语中比较常用的一个单词,它可以用作情态动词、实意动词或名词。用法比较复杂,简单归纳如下: ① need作情态动词的用法: need用作情态动词时表“必须、必要”的意思,后直接跟动词原型,且无人称、数的变化(第三人称单数不加s),也没有非谓语形式(不定式、分词)。 注意:need用作情态动词时常用于否定句和疑问句中。如: Need he bring his laptop tomorrow? 明天他必须带他的笔记本过来吗? ② need作实意动词的用法: ◆ need + something 需要某物,如: I need some fruits to eat. 我需要些水果来吃。 ◆ need to do something 需要做某事,如: You don’t need to have the bike repaired right away. 你不必马上去修车。 ◆ need doing = need to be done 某物需要被……,如: The room needs cleaning. = The room needs to be cleaned.◆ need somebody to do something 需要某人做某事,如: I need someone to help me out of this problem. ③ need作名词的用法: need用作名词时,既可以是可数名词,也可以是不可数名词。常用于以下句型: ◆ (There’s)no need to do something 没必要做某事,如: There’s no need for me to break the window because I have the key. ◆ in (great)need of (非常)需要,如: The rescue team is in great need of medicine.◆ meet the need of 满足……的需要,如: We should produce more food to meet the need of the people. Do more exercise to review this text. 1. Read the new words, phrases and try to dictate them. 2. Read the text and master the difficult sentences Review what we’ve learned.
