The Catcher in the Rye
Each autumn, a slight wind ripples the surface of golden cornfield. Dropping ears of rice promise another good harvest. Meanwhile, the admission notices students receive from the university rejoice their hearts. Some people hold the view that a student’s success in university study follows the same pattern as that of farming, which is characterized by “sowing the seeds, nurturing growth, and harvesting the
rewards” process. I certainly agree with this point of view.
First of all, it is the farmer who nurtures the growth of crops: Likewise, it is unequivocal that the success of study depends on nothing but the student’s own efforts
and talents. With the coming of the spring - sowing time, farmers rush off their feet with the sowing. So does the study. An old saying goes that spring is the starter for a year as dawn is for a day. Students in university must overcome the inertia and never have a lie in .A wise man makes hay while the sun shines. Just as farmers know how to take advantage of the twenty- four solar terms in their cropping, university men, too, should arrange their time properly and adjust rest time, study time and sport time in order. Each day's delay in sowing would mean a decrease in yield. Similarly, the grades are so honest that students couldn’t even deceive themselves. You don't study
hard, thence no good mark. How natural it is! Like the crops may be affected by some extra issues such as climate and disaster, university students will also face economic and social pressure. Only by staying positive and never giving up flying can birds have a shot at a silver lining. It is same to farmers. As for students, it is a universal truth as well.
Both farmers and students could be described as the catchers in the rye who desire for harvest and success, happiness of families and breath of knowledge. They are all respectful profession. Ever tried, ever failed, and ever smiled for the harvest, ever cried for the frustration. Maybe that is the essence of life for all the human beings.
