《鲁宾孙漂流记》英语读后感
it seemed to be suh a oinidene that the night after i finished reading the life and adventures of robinson rusoe, i as to dine in a restaurant distintl related to the book itself. this restaurant as no other than the famous amerian-d “frida’s.” the reason for mentioning this restaurant is quite straightforard to all the gentlemen, ladies and hildren ho have read the novel and enjoed it, hih is the fat that this restaurant as, most likel, named after the amerian native in robinson rusoe, alled frida. this restaurant offers ver exeptional servie, for instane hen the aitresses are asked to order dishes the kneel rather than stand, hih, unlike the other restaurants i have been to, makes it easier for the ustomers to hear them speak. moreover, frida’s friendl servies to the ustomers help them to make better hoies hen ordering dishes. i remembered hen i ent to frida’s last time; the aitress kindl desribed the items on the menu ith preise details. it turned out that the bo i initiall anted as designed to be shared among a large group, not to be eaten b one person. i think this restaurant shos man mendable features similar to that of frida.frida brought emotional armth to the people around him ith his appealing personalit. i think it as this personalit that affeted rusoe and made him
sa that he loved frida hen rusoe didn’t express love for his parents, brothers, sisters, or even his ife. “hen he espied me, he ame running to me, laing himself don again upon the ground, ith all the possible signs of an humble, thankful disposition, making man anti gestures to sho it„to let me kno ho he ould serve me as long as he lived.” this as hat frida did after rusoe had resued him from the to savages hasing him. it as eas for me to see h rusoe had loved frida. after sometime, rusoe and frida ere to resue frida’s father. hen frida reunited ith his father, the sene as eas to move anone: “it ould have moved anone to tears to have seen ho frida kissed him, embraed him, hugged him, ried, laughed, halloed, jumped about, daned, sung; and then sung and jumped about again, like a distrated reature. it as a good hile before i ould make him speak to me.” this is m favourite hapter in the hole book. it is hard to see h frida is an ex-savage hen he an have personalities more praiseorth than man ivilized people, viz. rusoe himself. “hen heent to him , he ould sit don b him, open his breast, and hold his father’s head lose to his bosom, half an hour together, to nourish it; then he took his arms and ankles, hih ere numbed and stiff ith the binding, and rubbed them ith his hands.” furthermore, frida’s expression of loalt in asking rusoe to kill him rather than leave him is more heartfelt than anthing rusoe
ever sas or does.rusoe, on the absolute ontrar, seems inapable of deep feelings, as shon b his aount of leaving his famil—he never shos an emotions. after a moving leture from robinson’s father about his future, he still deided to follo his on andering ambition. areless as he about the ishes of his parents to keep him alive and prosperous, as he as the onl hild left in the famil. hen he ame bak from the island hih he had lived on for tent eight ears, he found that it had been too late to tell his parents that he as still alive, but et again he did not feel sorr for them; he also did not feel sorr for the to people ho had to live in miser for nearl thirt ears under the allusion all of their sons ere dead. he had the same feelings for his ife: hen he as married, he said it as “not either to m disadvantage or dissatisfation”, impling that it as also neither to his advantage nor his satisfation. moreover, after his ife died, robinson did not think of looking after the three hildren the had, but ent bak to the island, hih he had lived on for tent-eight ears. it as on this trip hih robinson rusoe revisited “his island” as he alled it. i feel that robinson’s indifferene to his famil is almost emotionall ruel.befoe had learl shon the ontrast beteen rusoe’s and frida’s personalities, as hen frida, in his joful reunion ith his father, displaed far more emotion toard his famil members than rusoe, hereas rusoe never
mentions missing his famil or dreams about the happiness of seeing them again. i think defore is ver suessful in introduing frida as part of the novel, it makes the hole novel seem muh more plete and gripping to the reader, as ell as proving that defoe’s ideolog of raism is ivilized unlike man other europeans at that time; natives and savages are not orse than others but an perhaps even be more modern and ivilized. those are the reasons of h i like the life and adventures of robinson rusoe and frida.
