Teaching Objectives 1. Learn to describe the weather: How’s the weather? 2. Learn to talk about different weather in different cities 3. Go on learning present progressive tense 4. Vocabulary: raining, windy, cloudy, sunny, snowing, Beijing, Moscow, Toronto, Boston, Shanghai. 5. Structure: How is the weather in Beijing? It’s raining! II. Teaching important points 1. Be able to talk about the weather: How’s the weather? It’s raining. 2. Be able to use present progressive tense to describe what people are doing. 3. Be able to use present progressive tense to describe Teaching procedures Step one Greeting and warming-up Greet the whole class as usual. T: Do you often watch the weather report on TV? This class we’ll learn something about the weather and the activities that people are doing. Now I’ll show you some pictures, do you know what these signs mean? Show the pictures to the students one by one and let them say. Point to the 4 pictures. 2.Ask Ss tell each person is doing in each picture. More attentions should be paid to the correct use of the Present Progressive Tense. 3. Play the recording for the Ss to listen and number the pictures [1-4]. 4. Play the tape for Ss to check the answers. 5. With the whole picture, get some Ss to tell the story of it. 6. Brainstorming Play the tape for another time. Then do a memory test. Ask Ss: What's Uncle Joe/Jeff/Mary/Aunt Sarah doing? What're Scott and Lucy doing? Is Jeff watching TV? etc. 7. Let Ss match the names with the activities in 2b. Play the recording for the Ss to check the answers. Step six A song The rhythm of this song is according to the rhythm of the Chinese song 《 两只小象 》.
