Concern: Sealing adjustment procedure for FST
All sealing adjustments need to be done in production mode.
1. Before starting the adjustments unscrew the set screw and its blocking screw
2. They are 4 different position of the sealing head to set

Remove cover tape guide front and back
Remark: if you’re doing the setting you can just remove air pressure from module and push
manually the sealing head down.

3. Sealing pre-adjustment with gauges
This can be used to make the pre-adjustment for the sealing head
, Sealing shoe (gauge)
, Plate to be mounted instead of the tooling (gauge)
, The two dowel pins have to match with the holes on the gauge plate. To have more details on
how to adjust see below.
st 1 adjustment to check is “B”
The dowel pin is the rotation centre
Ensure the gap is more less parallel and has to be within 0.8 to 1mm. It is possible that the gap is
not parallel due to non centred rotation point. If misadjusted refer to point ”B”

4. Adjustment point “A”

, Use the adjustment screw to place the bits on sealing shoe parallel to the tape guide track
, Control adjustment (parallelism) with magnifying glass, if adjustment is good tight all blocking

, After tighten the blocking screws control the adjustment again

5. Adjustment point “C”

, Untight the 4 blocking screws
, Adjust the bits on the sealing shoe to be centred on the tape guide track
, Control adjustment with magnifying glass , Tight the 4 blocking screws
, After tighten the screws control the adjustment again

, Untight a little bit the 4 blocking screws
, Use adjustment set screw to shift the sealing head (allen key n?3) and ensure the same sealing
force on both bits
, You can control the adjustment when piston is in down position with a shim that you slide under
the bits. You should have the same height on each side.
, The second test possibility is to make some sealing and advance cycles and then analyse the
tracks.
, When adjustment is done, tight the 4 blocking screws (do not use extreme brute force to do it) , After tighten the screws control the adjustment again
7. Adjustment point “D”
7.1 calculations
Calculation for distance between sealing shoe and tape guide when sealing head is in down position and hot.
This example is for 8mm carrier tape:
Carrier tape thickness + cover tape thickness + 0,3mm 0 / +0.1 => 0.25+0.05+0.3 = 0,6mm 0 / +0.01
, Raise the sealing head to its down position (through I/O)
, Control the gap you have between sealing bits and tape guide

7.2 inclination adjustment
, Control if the 4 corners on the sealing shoe do have the same gap between bits and tape guide
, To adjust

removing the cutter mark its
position with a pen.
, Untight the set screws
, Use the corresponding set screw to adjust the same height under the two sealing bits
, 0,6mm shim should pass without problem under the sealing shoe but 0,8mm shim
should not.
, Tight the screws
, After tighten the screws control the adjustment again
, Control again part 7.1
8. Final control
, Pull carrier tape and cover tape to have unsealed part under the sealing shoe
, Make a single manual cycle
, Pull it out manually and control the tracks
Remark: As we did a single sealing cycle the tracks will not be so strong but the 4 corners do
have the same size and same strength.

If the sealing is still not perfect restart the at one of the item included between 4 and 7
9. Tight the set screw
10. Sensor adjustment

, Raise down the sealing head (gap = 0,6mm 0/+0.1, see point 7)
, Untight the dowel pin fixing screws
, Move down the dowel pin till the sensor detects and move it up to the point that sensor does not
detect it.
, Tight the dowel pin fixing screws
, The sensor should detect in a range of 0,3mm (carrier tape and cover tape thickness)
and 0,6mm 0/+0.1
