小公主英文读后感

A Little Princess is a novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett. He is a famous novelist. Frances Hodgson Burnett (1849-1924) grew up in England, but she began writing what was to become The Secret Garden in 1909, when she was creating a garden for a new home in Long Island, New York. Burnett was already established as a novelist for adults when she turned to writing for children. The play A Little Princess, which became the basis for the novel of the same name; and The Secret Garden are the works for which she is most warmly remembered. Sara Crewe is heroine of the novel. She is a friendly and well-behaved girl. She always says “please”or “thank you”to everyone. A Little Princess tells the story of young Sara Crewe, privileged daughter of a wealthy diamond merchant. Her father Ralph Crewe owned a diamond mine and had quite a lot of money. Her mother passed away since she was born. So her father did his best to create a prosperous life conditions for her and loved her deeply. At the age of seven, Sara was sent to London to be educated at the oppressive boarding school . All the girls at Miss Minchin's Seminary school treat Sara as if she truly were a princess. Lavinia was the richest and the most important girl in the school bofore. But Sara’s father was richer than Lavinia’s. So now Sara was more important than Lavinia. Lavinia hates her. Later, her father’s good friend ran away with all her father’s money. when her father heard about this, he was ill. A week later, her father was dead. She was sad and her heart broke in pieces. When Captain Crewe's fortune is sadly lost, Sara's luck changes. Suddenly she is treated no better than a scullery maid. Her teacher didn’t like her and many students hated her. Her teacher let her sleep in a servant’s room. Servant’s room was very cold but she had never given up her enthusiasm of life. Althought the situation seemed that everything went to the worst, she faced to the difficulties strongly. She never complain, in her opinion “soldiers don’t complain, I’m not going to do it, I’ll pretend this is part of a war. ” But at the meanwhile she also gained the true friendship. She had three good friends Becky ,Ermengarde and Lottie. Later, her father’s friend found Sara was Ralph Crewe’s daughter. So he took care of her very well and brought her a surprise that her father’s death also left a large legacy. Sara became a princess again. The end is very beautiful, I more firmly believed that who has a pure soul eventualluy will have good results. Her own fierce determination to maintain her dignity and remain a princess inside has intrigued and delighted readers for almost a hundred years, even inspiring a recent popular feature film. The story bring me into a world full of true love and bring me courage to meet setbacks. And it lets me realized that every girl can be a princess. Every girl probably has a dream of becoming a princess at one time or another, wearing beautiful dresses and living a comfortable life. The extraordinary story makes me ponder a lot and gives me a deep impression that every girl can be a princess. Not every rich girl can act like a well-behaved princess, but Sara did it. She was an imaginative little girl who had such intelligent small face and such perfect manners. Not only her teachers and classmates liked her, but also her servants liked her. She treats everyone well and never look down upon others when she was rich. She tells stories at any time when she thinks it’s necessary, not only to others but also to herself. This feature of her brings friends to her, like Becky ,Ermengarde and Lottie and even other girls in the school. Sara is a real princess from outside to inside. All her brilliance is from her special characteristics which blend with a little princess , a little mother and a little teacher. What impress me most is that Sara in A Little Princess wore thin bottom shoes, wet her feet , wading in the street of London , trying to finish this or that kind of assignment , and she could also supposed herself as princess. I could never forget what Sara said about “whatever comes cannot alter one thing. If I am a princess in rags, I can be a princess inside. It could be easy to be a princess if I were dressed in cloth of gold, but it is a great deal more of a triumph to be one all the time when no one knows it. ” From my point of view, her spirit of being so strong-minded when she was in hard times is worth admiring. She never complained to anyone about the horrible suffering she had endured. Sara was confident, brave, optimistic and kind-hearted she had never given up her enthusiasm of life. No matter what happened Sara acted like a real princess. I was shocked by Sara, a little girl who suffered such unimaginable pain and tortures, but still had an opposite attitude towards life. Difficulties try people, and it have tried you and proved how nice you are. Another spirit Sara teach me is helping others. You need to treat others as the way that you want to be treated. Sara’s characteristics are her mental wealth , which her rich father cannot give her. This help her have truly friendship which helped her a lot. She becomes a real princess inside just after her father dies and she is sent to work in the school as a little maidservant. “If nature has made you for a giver your hands are born open, and so is your heart, and though there may be times when your hands are empty, your heart is always full, and you can give things out of that-----warm things, kind things, sweet things-----help and comfort and laughter. And sometimes gay, kind laughter is the best help of all.” To judge a person is not to see how successful he is when he is in the favorable time. That is the soul and the sense in this book , and it is worthy of reading.but to see how he faced with difficulties in hard time. A real princess inside despite of other people’s attitude towards her , and behaves herself like a real princess. All of us can be a real princess like Sara.
