nRF2401 RF layouts
��� *(1(5$/
Gerber files for differential and single end RF I/O layouts have been made for Nordic
VLSI’s Q5)���� Single Chip 2.4 GHz RF Transceiver [1].
The Gerber files are compressed into the Zip archive format, and can be downloaded
for free from the Nordic VLSI ASA web site: http://www.nvlsi.no.
The Zip archive files includes a file named UHDGPH�ZUL that must be read before
importing the Gerber files into PCB editors.
All described layouts should be manufactured on standard 1.6mm double-sided FR4
printed circuit board (PCB).

The RF layouts include all necessary circuitry to design the radio part of a short-range
communication system based on Q5)����. All digital control signals are available at
the perimeter of the RF layout to be connected to the digital part of customer
applications.
Supply voltage and GND are also available at the perimeter of the RF layout. The
supply voltage for the RF part of the application circuit should be filtered separately
from the supply voltages of any digital circuitry. Star routing is strictly recommended
from the voltage supply source to the RF and digital or other parts of the application
circuitry.

Figure 1 shows the schematic for RF layouts with differential connection to the
antenna. PCB layouts have been made for 0603 and 0402 size passive external
components. 0402 components gives a 15% reduction in PCB area compared to 0603
in the RF part alone. The PCB layouts are shown in Figure 2 and Figure 3.
The Zip archive filenames are:

The recommended external components are listed in Table 1.

In Figure 4, the schematic for RF layouts with a single end connection for 50W
antennas is presented. This is done by using a differential to single ended matching
network, and as for the differential layouts this has been done for 0603 and 0402 size
passive components (Figure 5 and Figure 6). The reduction of PCB area here is 22%.
The Zip archive file names are:

The recommended external components are as given in Table 1, with addition of the
components in the differential to single end matching network. The complete list is
