The 747SP, shown in this presentation by "Flight" artist John Marsden,
is more than just a cut-back 747-100. The fin and tailplane have been
extended, the flaps simplified and empty weight reduced by 42,0001b.
Several internal arrangements are possible,providing mixed-class seating
for between 281 passengers at nine-abreast and 305 at ten-abreastt or
single-class economy seating for up to 390 passengers. If a main deck
baggage compartment is used, the full 3t860 cu ft of the lower hold can
be used for cargo. A unique feature of the 747SP is the offset longitudinal
