名词从句（NOUN CLAUSE）
三、作动词或者介词宾语，其又可分为两类：
第一类：动词宾语
1. He telephoned Mary that he wanted to see her.
2. The boy said that he was the first to come to school.
3. I found it strange that she has not come yet.
4. They want to make it clear to the public that they are doing an important work.
5. He makes it a rule that he will do an hour’s work in the garden every day.
6. He took it for granted that they would come to help him.
7. I’ll leave it to your own judgement whether you will to visit him or not.
8. You must keep it in mind that you are a communist.
1. He asked whether (if) I would show him the way.
2. I don’t know whether (if ) he will come here or not.
3. We feel it no matter whether he comes or not.
4. He considered it difficult whether he would accept it or not.
5. You can’t imagine how excited they were when they received these Christmas gifts.
6. Can’t you find out what’s wrong with the machine?
第二类：介词宾语
1. Mr. Wang is to give us a talk on what he saw and heard in British.
2. She began to think about what she would do.
3. Everything depends on whether we have enough money.
4. I worried about whether I hurt her feelings.
在接that 从句中英语里有四个介词可以例外地接续从句：
in that (= because)原因是… 因为… 在…方面。
1.I like the city , but I like the country better in that I have more friends in the country.
2.I gave the boy the best present in that he was loved by all but had no money.
3.Man differ from brutes in that they can think and speak.
For (that) 因为…
1. The days are short, for it was December.
2. We must start early, for we have a long way to go.
Except that /When 除开…
1. Everybody in the class works hard except that Tom sometimes sleeps in class.
2. He is a good student except that he is occasionally careless.
3. I would go with you except that I have to work that day.
4. He never came except when he was in trouble.
But that 若不是…
1. He would have helped us but that he was short of money at the time.
2. He would have said no but that he was afraid.
四、作同位语，实际上相当于表语从句。
1.I have no idea (which is ) whether I shall go with you or not.
2.The question (which is ) whether we need it or not has not been considered.
