ParallelOffsetPathInthisactivity,youwillcreatetwonewpathsbycopyingandmovingaselectedpathActivity:SeeAlso:Formoreinformation:lUsetheCommandFindertosearchforTransformPathandParallelOffsetPathActivity:CreatenewroutingsbycopyingaroutingLaunchtheactivityIfyouwouldliketogodirectlytothenextcourse,selectthislinkToreturntothemainwindow,clickReturntohomepageaboveGotothenextcourseStartbygeneratinganewpartfromaroutingtemplatefileOntheStandardtoolbar,clickNewIntheNewdialogbox,makesureUnitsaresettoMillimetersOntheModelpage,fromtheTemplateslist,selectRoutingMechanicalSinceyoudonotneedtosavethispart,acceptthedefaultNameandFolderbyclickingOKClickhereforinformationaboutcustomizingtoolbarsforthiscourseTurnoffthedisplayoftheDatumCoordinateSystemOntheUtilitytoolbar,clickLayerSettingsCleartheLayercheckbox,thenclickClosePlanthefirstroutingpathForthisexerciseyouwillcreateazigzagroutingpathThefirstsegmentoftheroutingpathistoextendmillimeterstotheleftfromtheoriginoftheWCSasseenfromatopviewOntheRoutingPathtoolbar,clickCreateLinearPathtodisplaytheCreateLinearPathdialogboxStartthefirstpathSincethereisnoedgeorfacetoselectinthispart,youwillneedtodefinethebeginningofthepathbydefiningitslocationinmodelingspaceYouwantthispathtostartattheoriginoftheWCSTodefinethislocation,youcanusethePointdialogboxIntheSpecifyPointgroup,fromtheModelist,makesureSpecifyPointsisselectedClickPointConstructortodisplaythePointdialogboxIntheCoordinatesgroup,clickRelativetoWCSMakesurethethreevaluesforXC,YCandZCareallsettozeroClickOKtodefinethelocationofthefirstroutingcontrolpointattheoriginoftheWCSCreateapathDefinetheendofthefirstpathMovethecursoraroundthegraphicswindowandnoticethelinethatdragswiththecursorIftheexactlocationoftheendpointofapathisnotcritical,youcouldjustclicktoplaceitRemember,thisfirstpathmustbemmlong,extendhorizontallytotheleftfromtheoriginoftheWCS,andremainontheXCYCplaneYoucantypeasecondXC,YC,ZCvaluetodefineendofthisfirstpathClickPointConstructoragainLeavetheYCandZCboxessettozeroIntheXCbox,type–,thenclickOKThefirstroutingsegmentiscreated,displayedinabluecenterline,withanRCPateitherendYouarereturnedtotheCreateLinearPathdialogboxNoticethatasecondsegmentdragsfromtheendofthefirstsegmentasyoumoveyourcursorawayfromitThenextsegmentofthispathmustbemmlongandmustbeparallelwiththeYCaxisasshownintheviewillustratedbelowThismeansthatyoumustrestrictthispathtoremainparallelwiththeYCaxisIntheSpecifyPointgroup,fromtheModelist,selectAxisParallelThedialogboxnowdisplaysmoreoptionsFromtheSpecifyVectorlist,selectYCAxisNoticenowthat,whenyoumovethecursorinthegraphicswindow,theimageofthesegmentwillonlymoveinalineparallelwiththeYCaxisIntheOffsetbox,typeandpressEnterTip:YoucanalsotypethevalueintotheonscreeninputboxIfnecessary,pressCtrlFtofittheviewThenextsegmentmustbemmlongandextendtotheleftfromthebackendoftheYCsegmentItmustbeparallelwithXCandonthesameplaneastheothersegments(asshowninthistopview)Sinceitishorizontal,youcanrunitparalleltotheXCaxisanddefineitsdistanceKeeptheModesettoAxisParallelFromtheSpecifyVectorlist,select–XCAxisIntheOffsetbox,typeandpressEnterClickOKintheCreateLinearPathdialogboxIfnecessary,pressCtrlFtofittheviewDisplayinformationaboutaspecificroutingpathChooseInformation→Routing→RoutingObjectstoopentheRoutingObjectsInformationdialogboxTheMethodlistappearsontheSelectionbarYouneedtogetinformationaboutthelengthofonesegmentinthisroutingpathFromtheMethodlist,makesureStandardisselectedWhenyouusetheStandardmethod,yougetinformationonindividualsegmentsintherouteSelectanyoneofthesegmentsoftherouteClickthemiddlemousebuttontoacceptyourselectionChecktheinformationyougetabouttheroutingsegmentTheInformationwindowshows:¡Thelayertheobjectison¡ItsType¡ItsColor,FontandWidth¡ItsUnits,Angle,andLength¡ThelocationofitsstartandendpositionsDismisstheInformationwindowRefreshtheviewtoremoveanysymbolsaddedinthegraphicswindowYoucanalsoobtaininformationaboutthetotallengthofapathOntheUtilitytoolbar,clickMeasureDistanceIntheMeasureDistancedialogbox,fromtheTypelist,selectRoutingPathLengthTheMethodlistreappearsontheSelectionbarFromtheMethodlist,makesurePathisselectedSelectthisentirepathbyselectingthefirst,thenthelastsegmentyoucreatedAllsegmentsbetweenthesegmentsyouselectedwillhighlightandwillbeincludedinthereportIntheResultsDisplaygroup,selecttheShowInformationWindowcheckboxClickOKTheInformationwindowgivesyoutheindividualsegmentlengthsaswellasthetotalpathlengthoftheroutingobjectsselectedDismisstheInformationwindowYournextpathneedstobeconnectedtothecurrentpathItmustbeparallelwiththeYCaxisbutgoinanegativeYCdirectionAlso,itmuststayontheXCYCplaneClickCreateLinearPathSelectthisroutingcontrolpoint(RCP)betweenthefirstandsecondsegmentsItdoesnotmatterwhichpathhighlightsThesegmentimageoriginatesfromtheRCPyouselectedHowever,youwanttorunthisroutingparallelwiththeYCaxisFromtheModelist,selectAxisParallelFortheSpecifyVectorlist,select–YCAxisThisfirstsegmentmustbemmlongIntheOffsetbox,typeandpressEnterInnecessary,pressCtrlFtofittheviewAddanothersegmentusingthesamevaluesOncethevalueshavebeenenteredintothedialogbox,theprocessmayberepeatedasmanytimesasneededInthiscaseyouneedtoaddasegmentthatisthesameasthepreviousone:samedirection,samelength,andonthesameplaneMakesuretheOffsetboxstillreadsandthenpressEnterasecondtimeFittheviewYounowhavetwommsegmentsinthenewpathClickOKtoclosetheCreateLinearPathdialogboxClosethepartwithoutsavingInthisactivit
