可以适当调整一下：2015年，在比利时滑铁卢的周边地区，人们正紧锣密鼓地筹备着滑铁卢战役200周年的纪念活动。
“of one of the major battles in European military history.”是介词短语修饰前面的名词，因为前面翻出来已经很长了，这句话啊是解释说明的作用，可以另起一句翻译。
