1. Tell me something about yourself. Good morning professors Thank you for offering me this interview opportunity. And I hope I can make a good performance today. My name is Qiu Yulong. I am from Harbin Institute of Technology at Weihai, majoring in Mechanical Design, Manufacturing &Automation. During my college years, I have worked hard at my major courses. As a result, I have passed all the examinations and achieved excellent academic results. Moreover I have passed CET4/6 and achieved the second grade in the national computer rank examination. I consider myself as a determined and discreet person with a strong sense of responsibility and team spirit. My strongest asset is my ability to stick to things to get them done. In my spare time, I like playing basketball, which is an effective way to improve my body health, and it can teach me how to join in a group and deal with other people. So this is me, just an ordinary boy who want to realize his dream here. That’s all, thank you. 2.What is your greatest strength？（你最突出的优点是什么？） My strongest asset is my ability to stick to things to get them done. And I feel a real sense of accomplishment when I finish a job and it turns out just as I’d planned. 3. What is your greatest weakness？（你最大的弱点是什么？） I am not very good at public speaking. When speaking in public, I feel particularly nervous, but I will be more relaxed when I talk about things I am familiar with. 4.介绍你的家乡(about hometown) My hometown is Tengzhou city of Shandong province, which is a really beautiful city. As a County - level city, Tengzhou’s population (1.7 million) is bigger than any other city in Shandong province. Tengzhou has lots of Historical and cultural celebrities, such as Mozi (墨子), Tengwengong (滕文公) and Luban (鲁班). And also my hometown has many tourist attractions, which attract plenty of tourists from all over the world. The people of my hometown are hospitable. If you have the chance to go to Tengzhou, you will feel that. 5.你的家庭(about family) I have a big family. That’s because there are five members in my family: my grandmother, my parents, my elder brother and me. Both of my father and my mother are peasants. In recent years, considering my mother’s poor health, only my father works for living. Members of my family care about each other and I love family very much. During my preparing for coming here, my parents’ love and support have always been my powers. And I hope in future I will be able to repay them. 6. What is your major? Why do you like this major? My major is mechanical design, manufacturing & automation, which is a subject to study mechanics and electronics. We aim to get a better understanding of the design, production and application of mechanical devices and systems. Through the past three years’ education, I learn more about how to solve a practical problem. Just like if you want to make a bionic [bai'ɔnik] robot, the knowledge of biology is essential. So I find that with further study, I deeply like my major. 7.话题：介绍一本你最喜欢的英文书籍。 I like Hemingway’s “The Old Man and the Sea”. In this book, the old fisherman makes great efforts to struggle fearless of danger and difficulty. We should learn from the old man. We should be positive upwards. In our daily life, some losses are unavoidable; we should treat with the optimistic attitude. Only in this way, we could obtain greater success and victory. 8． Topic: Tell something about your favorite sports I like playing basketball, which is an effective way I think to improve my body health, and it can teach me how to join in a group and deal with other people. In this fast-paced society, playing basketball is essential for me to relax. And Yaoming is the greatest basketball star in my heart. I think a basketball game is just like life, it is not until the end that one knows who will win. Whenever you feel tired and want to quit in a basketball game, you’d better try to hold on and conquer yourself .When you do that, you will experience the joy of success. 9. Tell something about music As we know, music is really a magical thing, and widely spread all over the world. So we can say the music belongs to the entire human. Today, music plays an important part in our daily life. It is essential for us to relax. Personally speaking, I like all kinds of music which can take me into a world that is quiet and beautiful, and give me the truest feelings in nature. Always listening to music is beneficial to our elimination of working strain, reduction of pressure from daily life. In other words, it makes us happier and improves our quality of life. 11．Tell me your motto My motto is “Ask for more, just do it”. In my opinion, no matter who want to learn more should learn asking for question first. And of course, just asking for question is not enough; we are also supposed to put our ideas into practice. Only in this way, could we do things well and make ourselves different. 12.英语介绍：Tell me something about your favorite magazine My favorite magazine is Crazy English. As we know, English, as an international language, is very important for us, especially the oral language. So in my spare time, I try all my best to practice with the help of the magazine. Still now, maybe I am not 100% fluent, but at least I am improving. 13. Tell me something about your favorite TV program My favorite TV program is “Human and Nature”. Through watching the TV program, I want to enlarge my horizon. It talks about animals, plants, nature and the relationship between the nature and human beings. I especially like the stories happened in the forest at night, it’s dangerous and adventurous, but our ancestors have lived through. From this TV program we can see the beautiful landscapes all over the world and enjoy the magnificence of life. Moreover, we will cherish the current life and have a better understanding of the essence of life. 14.生活习惯 In my opinion, good habit plays an important part in our daily life. And I am a person who often makes plans. Just like every night when I go to bed, I usually think about that what I have done today and what I should do tomorrow. Then I write them down on a paper. So with the guidance of the plan, I can spend my day more substantial. 15. Tell me something about Weihai. The environment of Weihai is very clean and the weather is very cool, especially in summer. But the winter is a little cold and the wind is a little strong. In summary, Weihai is Very suitable for study and work in most time of the year. 16.你的大学(about university) As a part of Harbin Institute of Technology, my university is located in Weihai city, Shandong province. We have a very beautiful campus, which provide a good learning environment for us. Three years' university education gives me a lot of things to learn, a lot of chances to try, and a lot of practices to improve myself. It teaches me not only what to study, but also how to think. In the university life, I have made many good friends. They help me improve my study and research ability, and often give me good example to follow. 17. How do you feel about your progress to date？“（对于你至今所取得的进步你是怎样看的？） I think I did well in school. In fact， in a number of courses I received the highest exam scores in the class. And of course, No one is perfect. I have to keep learning to improve myself. 18. Plans in the postgraduate study If I can enroll in this prestigious university, I hope I can do the following things during my postgraduate study. I may continue to learn basic research methods and tools in my first year. Considering that I have had several experiences, I may learn to do my own research gradually. 19. Why do you choose Harbin Institute of Technology? I select Harbin Institute of Technology to continue my study for its best reputation on Mechatronic Engineering where my interest lies. This is the first reason. Second, I like the atmosphere of scientific research. Everybody here seems so busy, and this will drive me to work harder to improve myself. Third, Harbin is a highly-developed city. Here will offer me a good opportunity to experience new things and expand my horizon.
