Other ways to create camouflage the stomach area include strategically rushed dresses or tops, tapered jackets, and pieces that are defined but not tightly form-fitting. ​ Pear Shape. Hide heavy hips with full skirts below the knee, full-skirted dresses with defined waists, and wide legged trousers. Bateau necklines can also draw attention to the upper part of the body and de-emphasize the hips. Creating Outfits Whether you love shopping or loathe it, many women have trouble creating outfits. They might find a piece they love, but end up looking frumpy because they don't have anything appropriate to wear with it as an ensemble. You can wear stylish tops and even v-necks, but if in doubt, err on the conservative side for the office. ​ For occasions like weddings, special dinners, parties, and other events, heed any dress requirements listed on the invitation (black tie formal, casual dress, period costume, etc.). Make an inquiry if there is no designation and you are unsure of how formally to dress for a special event. ​ Casual or informal events can often be treated as dress-casual rather than ultra-casual. Sweats and athletic shoes are good for working out, but opt for an ensemble like dress slacks and a blouse, denim paired with a blazer and smart top, or cute mid-length skirt and top combo for informal events that don't require sweating and wearing tennis shoes. Too many trendy pieces worn together can look overdone. Again, wearing trend clothing is also about balance. For example, skinny jeans worn with a tunic top or a slightly blousy top will look stylish, but pair them with a tummy-baring nineties fashion baby tee, and the look will be less than elegant.
