Nature, calling out without any notice Nature, calling out without any notice In the movies, on the books, even from some beautiful paintings, we can clearly see some fabulous scenery. When opening the curtain of the window, there is a holy theater before a sky-blue stage. When going hiking on the mountains, we will always mistake the trees and grass for the green coat for mountains. When driving or walking past a lake, the fishes playing under the water surface and the stones on the bottom of the lake catches our sight. The beautiful scenery is somewhat dramatic nowadays. For most cases, we can only see them in the films and imagining them in our minds. The beautiful scenery, where have you gone? In the 19th century, Victor Hugo said: “How sad it is to think that nature is calling out but humanity refuses to pay heed.” Not only in the 19th century, but also in today’s world, nature is gradually going far away from us. The sky becomes greyer and greyer instead of the blue one several hundred years ago. Hills and mountains are losing their beautiful green coat and become bare. Clean rivers and lakes do not exist any longer .Fewer and fewer fishes live in the rivers as a result. In addition to the above, we can seldom breathe fresh air which was sufficient in the past. Green plants are gone, clean water is gone, fresh air is gone, and every important element which is fundamental to human-beings’ life is going farther and farther. What is worse, in spite of the huge differences in nature between nowadays and the past, human-beings still turn a deaf ear to them. They took no notice of the environment being worse and worse. Ignoring what is deteriorating, people continue their way of destroying nature. For purpose of making paper and building houses, more and more trees are being cut down every year due to the increasing demand of wood. There is so much poisonous gas layed out by vehicles that as if we had a foggy or smoggy weather every day. We won’t see clean lakes or rivers that are easy to find in the past unless we go to some places of interest like Jiuzhaigou in Sichuan province, China, which are under preservation. The world’s climate is becoming warmer and warmer, making the earth like a Green House. As a consequence, lots of icebergs near the two poles of the earth melt, which leads the sea level to rise rapidly. Overuse of the chemical element F has already created a big hole above the South Pole. Some disasters seem to happen naturally and unpredictably, such as the earthquake, the tornado, the tsunami, the drought and so on. But in fact, they are due to happen because of our destroying the ecologic system. How I wish I can see the above scenery again in my life! How long will it take humans to realize their huge mistake? Never? Until the moment the earth is totally destroyed? What can relieve us a little is that there are more and more people as well as countries have already realized serious condition. A lot of measures have been taken to stop continuing destroying the earth. For instance, when I watch the TV programme -“Ten people who move China”, I get to know a man who nearly sacrificed his life to protect the Dian Lake in Yunnan province. He brought a new look of the Dian Lake at the cost his property, his wife, one of his eyes and even his life. It can really delight us a little. But it’s still far from satisfaction. Only all human-beings make contributions to save the earth can the earth be saved. It is we human-beings that play an important role in saving the world. We are still on the way! (毛奕 经济学院金融
