No damaged, no wetted and no dirty. • All marks shall clear and correct. • Check if the item No, model No and pork …… are correct and no missing. 1.2 Packing polybag • No damaged, no dirty and shall drying. • Shall have related warning words and punch hole on polybag. Note: No need warning words and punch hole on polybag if the polybag is less than 100x100mm2 and open perimeter is less than 380mm. 1.3 Package Check if the carton and giftbox packed the unit fitly. Too large and too small will reduce the protection for unit. All carton or giftbox shall stand packing and placing along corrugation direction. Otherwise, package will reduce its protection function. General checking Item 1.4 Label and manual • The marking shall be clearly legible and durable. Rubbing test for 15 s with a piece of cloth soaked with water and again for 15 s with a piece of cloth soaked with petroleum spirit. • To check if there are following marking marked on appliances. -- rated voltage (ranges) -- rated frequency -- rated input -- maker’s or responsible vendor’s name, trade mark or identification mark. -- maker’s model or type reference. -- symbol for class II construction, for class II appliances only. -- symbol for degree of protection against ingress of water, other than IPX0. • Generally, appliance shall be with a manual to tell how to use the appliance. It shall be clearly and correct. 21 General checking Item 1.5 Power cord • No damaged and all marks shall be clearly legible and durable. • Check if there are related safety approved marks and related license No. Actual record all marks in inspection report. • For UL product: The power cord shall be withstand a pull of 155.68N (35 pounds) for 1 minute without displacement • For EN product: The power cord shall have a cord anchorage and shall be withstand a pull of 30N for mass less than 1 kg, of 60N for mass less than 4kg, for 25 times with displacement within 2mm General checking Item 1.6 Plug No damaged and no burr. The pins shall be not loosen. Check if there are related safety approved marks and related license No. Actual record all marks in inspection report. • For UK plug: Level II internal check UK plug. No wire strand protruding from connector. Check the manufacturer marks on plug, such as PMS, MS, scolmore. The fuse holder shall attached to the live pin correctly. Check if it is a counterfeit fuse. Check the manufacturer marks, such as Bussmann ASTA. The weight of genuine fuse is normally between 2.3 – 2.4g and with a small central hollow at end cap. 22 General checking Item 1.7 Cosmetic check All inspections shall be conducted at a distance of 15 to 20 inches (38 to 50cm) or refer to client’s specification. Refer to related product W 1.8 Safety check Refer to related product WI 1.9 Function check Refer to related product WI 1.10 Internal check 1) Internal wiring -- Wireways shall be smooth and free from sharp edges. -- Beads and similar ceramic insulators on live wires shall be fixed and cannot change their position. -- Sleeving on internal wiring shall be retained in position by positivemeans. -- Green/yellow wires shall only be used for earthing conductors. -- Stranded conductors shall not be soldering where they are subjected to contact pressure, unless the clamping means is constructed so that there is no risk of bad contact due to cold flow of solder. -- Earthing line shall not be solder alone on the dead metal parts of product. General checking Item For screwless-type clamping: IEC998-2-2 point 14.102 Each conductor is subjected to a pull of the value shown in the following table. The pull is applied without jerks for 1 min in the direction of the axis of the conductor. 5040353030Pull force (N) 2.51.51.00.750.5Cross-sectional area mm2 During the test the conductor shall not slip out of the terminal. 23 General checking Item 2) Screws and connections -- Screws and nuts transmitting contact pressure or which are like ly to be tightened during user maintenance . The screw or nuts are tightened and loosened: - 10 times for screws in engagement with a thread of insulating material. - 5 times for nuts and other screws. -- Screw and nuts which make a mechanical connection between different parts of the appliance shall be secured against loosening if they also make electrical connections or provide earthing continuity. Spring washers, lock washers and crown type locks as part of the screw head are means which may provide satisfactory security. General checking Item 1.11 Construction -- Handles, knobs levers and similar parts shall be fixed in a rel iable manner so that they will not work loose in normal use if loosening could result in a hazard. Apply an axial force for 1 min - if the shape of these parts is such that an axial pull is unlikely to be applied in normal use, the force is 15N - if the shape is such that an axial pull is likely to be applied, the force is 30N. -- If handles, knobs and similar parts are used to indicate the position of switches or similar components, it shall not be possible to fix them in a wrong position if this could result in a hazard. 1.12 Running test Refer to related product WI Note: Some running test are abnormal operation and need to refer to related test procedure in related EN or UL standard. 24 Defects classification * Critical : Defects which could result in hazardous or unsafe conditions for individuals using or maintaining the product as well as defects contravening legal regulations. * Major : Functional defects reducing the usability or solidity of the product as well as obvious visual defects reducing the sales value of the product. * Minor : Defects that are unlikely to reduce the use of the product, but nevertheless may influence the sale. For random inspection, the following rules apply: -- If the same sample has several defects, only the most serious defect is counted. -- Samples with major defects have to be replaced or repaired before re- packing of the shipping cartons opened for inspection. -- In the case of critical defects, the entire shipment must be rejected as a matter of principle and clients consulted for a decision.
